It looks like 146 eastbound is closed near Soledad, and the fire is threatening some major big power lines. Here is cal fire's incident page:

Not so good. Hope they get this contained before the home or the Pins are hit.
Wonder what the impact is if it hits the 270K Power Lines. (other than boom)

Is it really near the Pinnacles?
-
I guess it is....
To the north in the state's coastal midsection, a nearly 8-square-mile fire threatening Pinnacles National Monument kept 100 homes under evacuation orders near the Monterey County town of Soledad. The blaze, only 15 percent contained, was started by agricultural fireworks used to scare animals away from crops.

They should pay for this.
Any kind of fireworks in this kind of heat is just senseless.

It's reportedly a mile away from 146 now. Five Condors have been evacuated from Pinnacles to Big Sur!

We canceled our trip down there today. I cannot post what I would like to do to these "Farmers".

Cancelled my trip as well, Just got back from a day at Mount St Helena as a back up plan. Talked to a CalFire guy on the fire road, and he said the fire was 85% contained and 146 was open. Hope to get to the Pinnacles in the next couple weeks! No more fireworks PLEASE!!

St Helena is nice.
Pinns is safe. Now it's time to get there.

saw a trooper on the road home tonight with wirey white dude with beard. had to double take thinking maybe Mud was coming back from the Sierra due to the Pinns fire we heard about on the way out on friday. Naturally, nightmarish flashes of orange came back to me quick enough. ;)

How was the smoke coming through Tioga?
Did you pick up your Mobile Mart Beer Cozy??
-
120 was actually closed. I drove 108. Far nicer drive than going thru Bakersfield.
