Well lately I have been doing nothing but work and eat. Not working out at all, not riding, not climbing. When I do get out I feel terrible. No stamina, no strength, nothing. Most of my concentration goes toward effort than actually doing something. Been in a super slump. Well today I saw an email from Uber, figured it had to be something crazy which caused something to snap.
So I stopped on my way into work and signed up at Golds. First signed up there about 20 years ago and just about every good fitness run that I have had started in there. Felt good to walk in those doors again. Did not have any gear with me since it was a spur of the moment idea. I am so far out of shape it is worse than starting from scratch. Where I am at now is somewhat uncharted territory. Will have to see how it goes. I really have to do something since this funk is beginning to affect my mental state.
So here it goes. Hopefully something will come out of this.
Here's to sweat in your eye

I just started back on my cardio routine at my climbing gym. I'll keep it up if you do. (I hate cardio, more than I hate bouldering)
-
That's a good Gold's.....worked out there on occasion for some time. Buy a weight belt and get swole:-)
-
Such a coincidence! I will be working out this winter at the Gold Wall. I hope we both get as strong as we were in our youth.

Will either be working on the house or at work this weekend. Perhaps both.

I'm outta shape too...
Of course, that just means I'm on injured reserve at the moment: I sprained my ankle about three miles out from the trailhead near Cathedral Lake. I've been trying to get back into running, and have to wait until that heals. For now, I'm swimming and doing some work on the elliptical trainer at PG.
Climbing-wise, I've been able to get back to climbing V3s and the occasional V4. When do all you tards climb these days?

I have not been climbing but started my second week of membership with a workout.

when the allergies aren't rocking, late sessions at PG in the evening.

What days? I'm a bit limited due to my class schedules... I've been hitting PG 4-5:30 on Mondays, 4:45-5:45 on Wednesdays and on Friday evenings...
-
Tues Wed or Thur usually is feasible. early evening I prolly can't do without advanced notice for a one off sesh

Should have gone factors to pain but went to the gym after work. first arm workout and ab day. Forgot what it feels like to do sets of 30. It was difficult to push through. Way out of shape, nothing really feels like it did except that feeling after the workout where it is difficult to lift food up to my mouth.
My core is shot as is most everything else. Oh well it is a start.

No worries man. Pops is coming over 2nite.

Hey Mud, beer is a great workout recovery liquid. Suggest a few each night after working out.
-
squiddo, yeah, that will probably never happen.
-
factor
beer every night = the anti workout.
nice work on the new place.

This week is my rest week for legs and cardio. Well it should be. Had a bit of an incident yesterday. My intention was to do a slow 20 minutes on the treadmill. Well this executive looking fellow comes up beside me. Starts up his treadmill looks over at my screen and sets his speed to be 1 point higher than mine. So being the non-competitive person that I am, I waited 2 minutes before adjusting my speed to 2 points above his plus putting my treadmill at an incline steeper than his.
Well, that was the beginning of the end of a slow casual run. Before to long I was focusing fairly intensely on my form and breathing to keep from cracking. My Bohlman mantra kicked in, better to loose than quit. It hurt a fair bit but he finally cracked and had to lower his speed. Kept mine high for another 5 minutes before lowering my speed. I did make sure to keep my speed a good bit above his. After another 10 minutes he stopped and left. Was happy about that. Made sure he was gone before dropping to a comfortable level to cool down then stopping.
Today my legs hurt. They are not supposed to hurt. It is supposed to be a rest week and recovery week for cardio and legs. Dang it. Well after that I went and did a two hour upper body workout so all that hurts to.

Thank goodness Sports Page was right next door and open too!

Mud,
that sounds like something I would do.
-
Suiddo,
May come as a surprise but, back in the day, I was actually banned for life from that place.
True story. After being banned ( I did not think they were serious, I mean it is the Sports Page), I went there with a dozen folks from work. I came in the front door at the tail end of the group. The Bartender spots me, stops everything and yells at the top of his lungs, "YOU OUT" while pointing in my direction.
About a month or so later I run into him at La Costena. He got all nervous and tried to avoid me, but he was right in front of me and there is not much wiggle room where people line up. I ended up paying for his burrito and we had some good laughs. Pretty funny times. He did say I was still banned, but at least he had a smile on when he said it that time.
Thank goodness Sports Page was right next door and open too!

Yeah, some of us just cannot help ourselves. At least it keeps life fun and provides entertainment.

Banned fromSP? Tell the story!!!

Banned fromSP? Tell the story!!!
Perhaps someday. I suppose there are some bragging rights of some sort. Not many folks can say they have been kicked out of the SP on more than one occasion let alone banned.
As a teaser, I will just say it involves alcohol (of course), a tall thin blonde, and a crutch.
