Title: Searching for Mud n Crud in Spain.
Post by: Atomizer on February 06, 2013, 02:37:58 AM
I've been in Spain for about a week. I'm finally adjusting to the slower pace of life.

The first day I went for a hike to check out the local cliffs around the village of St Llorenc de Montgai

We climbed at the massive Cueva de Santa Linya, which is so massive it was so hard to comprehend at first.

But most of out time has been spent at Oliana. This crag starts with a 5-15m section of choss but then enters some really stunning blue rock. Between These two cliffs there are about 20 9a or harder routes. It's the next level.

La Dura Dura action. Adam Ondra is literally inches away from sending what will be the first 15c. It's really intense to watch, that guy is all in!

Thanks for checking in Adam. Nice photos, especially the "8a" you're trying, which looks like very nice rock.

I needed something to lift my spirits from the Crud - this shite is hanging on me like a leach! - and it looks like you'll need to do that to get up those routes!!

I was resting and missed the La Dura Dura send.  We all knew it was going to happen today. He was commenting how good the hold felt yesterday.

But Chris just sent one of his other projects at Santa Linya at 9b. It's huge line.

Chris is psyched on the line to the right of dura dura. Leblondski definitely 9b+ but super sustained bouldery moves unlike its neighbor that is very crimpy.

I'm curious how it climbs? Does the rock feel like Pinns (longer though)? All bolted face routes?

Just a few words before bed. Definitely one of the top experiences of my life. It was a great adventure. Like Pod forever with feed the beast right at the top.  More to come latter.
