Tell me this doesn't sound wild!  Mineral trapped water deep beneath the crust.

No seriously - there are many minerals that are considered hydrous or hydrates - they have water trapped in their structure. Magma also commonly contains about 1 to 10% water - see I told ya you CAN get water from a stone :)
