It's Monday, but we're starting a new thread for photos of us "way back in the day."
This photo of Jon is courtesy of his daughter Rachel, who finally stopped laughing long enough to forward it to me. And of his daughter Carrie, who suggested the thread title. Post up the "olden days" photos. Drama poses preferred:

where did you meet Robert Duvall?
-
Okay - you asked for some drama - spring 1994 Red River Gorge, KY - first "date" with KC - after scrambling and climbing around for several hours I went the wrong way on a scramble, turned around, raised up under an overhang and crowned myself. This was taken after a 45 minute hike back to the car - then 90 minutes to the ER for 4 staples in my scalp - note to self - don't wear visors when hiking under rocks!

Now we've got head shots to be stand-ins for Duvall and Yankovitch :)

Gordo helped me identify the climbs. Me (right) and Holo (left) on Pixie Rock. I'm on the 11 called "Silent but Deadly"
I need to get back to that fightin shape.

Invalid without a clear shot of your face :) and is that a long ponytail I see?
I think this thread is supposed to be more about mug/head shots ;)

Fortunately, you'll note a trend with me... I post whatever climbing pics I want, unless of course it's granite in a mud thread... :)
Here's to mud in yer eye...

Dennis, that's a great photo!!
EDIT: John, I didn't even notice the blood all over your face the first time I looked.
Here's a good series on Reed's Direct (notice the same pony tail seen above):

What a ridiculously small rack!
-
Y'all look so purdy.
-
Those are great! Add Jon Voight to the list and Alan Alda is currently absent from the thread - I haven't pegged who Rob looks like just yet ;)
-
OMG this thread is awesome. I'll dig some up after I touch some tops.

Munge?(http://mission-alcatraz-2003-18-g.jpg)

Munge?
Not sure he has the Seagal thing goin' on - maybe he'll post an old front shot scowling for comparison :)

Here's a shot of two guys I've climbed with a lot. In fact I've been climbing with the one on the left since 1987. The two shown here have been climbing together since 1974. They're shown on top of Fairview Dome around 1975.
I doubt anyone on this site other than Rob has a chance of recognizing either one (and I give him only a slim chance):

Man with a name that sounds like a body part, or other man that has name that sounds like wooded area?

Neither of them is Forrest, and neither is Footie. So I'm not sure you've got who it is yet (but now you will). He turns 62 in two weeks and still has no grey hair (except a little in his beard which he grows on occasion).
-
Dave?
-
Dave?
Yep, the one and only. With his partner of 40 years, Bart (on the right). The same two climbers are on on page 8 of the 2013 SPH book.
Somewhere I've got a photo of Dave with that same crazy hair playing an electric guitar (he used to play in a rock and roll band when he was in his late teens!).

I'm going with Captain Kangaroo and Mr Green Jeans ;)

It's Friday today, and I'm going to flash back to two of my favorite photos ever. In November, 1995 Vicki and a three month old Katie accompanied me to the Crowley Towers. I did every route that the '95 Rubine guide showed up there. But the best memory is of the girls, not the routes:

Atom, need the flashback yo! ;D

Clink, you're too young to remember Hopalong Cassidy, but your photo reminds me of (I confess!) my Hoppy outfit.

Those are great photos Clink, but you gotta make them bigger (and not sideways). If, per chance, you're not sure how, call me during an evening if you want and I'll walk you through how to post full sized photos?
And wow, you married a kid! And you must have been a kid then too.
-
Here's a flashback of a different kind.
When I got to the office this morning, I told my secretary and my receptionist about a new climb that Roger and I put up yesterday on The Russian Wall. My secretary is 62 years old. My receptionist is 40.
The name of the new route is Sputnik (5.10c *). The route description starts with this phrase:
"This route is located on a small satellite cliff 70 feet left of the route Zookeeper…"
My secretary was old enough to get the pun. My receptionist didn't.
Who here is old enough to get it?
-
Ah, much better, thanks J.C.
Man Clink, what did you do to deserve such a beauty?

Commie bastards - my orbit hasn't decayed that much...yet ;)

I know how to read a dictionary damnit!
Everyone knows Sputnik.
Spherical and quite pointy in parts...
You were expecting us to cry ourselves to sleep on our huge Pillahs!?

Apparently not everyone. But yes, I think you are of an age, geeser-guy ;D

It's Friday. These two are from the top of The Royal Arches, August, 1984. They are the oldest climbing photos that I've got:

Yeah, I don't look a day older now do I?
Yes, sigh, it has come to it. Time to lynch that photo-upscrewing scoundrel. Fix your ways Clink, or else...

Great to see these shots guys.
Bought myself a can of tar and feather remover, just in case.

KC said "Get out of our parking spot!"
-
that was the official Trooper parking spot.
I remember the one down side to that Trooper (besides no radio) was it had no heat!
Cripes, you had to wear a full down suit on the drive down there.
-
lol, no doubt. I did one trip in the Trooper... may have only been for lunch... that may have been enough. ;)
-
Tell KC I officially bequeath that spot to your rig.

I was going through old backpacking photos, showing Tricia shots of myself and my brother, on the PCT (southbound) in 1982. I then came across this photo from a solo backpack in the Trinity Alps I did in August 1986. It's a selfie before selfies were invented:

You could haul a houseboat up on that and a motel 6.
-
had something way more valuable to haul up so wasn't taking any chances. :)

Likely Beer.
I remember walking by your fixed lines after Lava Falls and was tempted to take a run up and leave you a present at the belay.
-
not beer, just Josh.
I'd offer to belay, but if I hit balconies I owe Noal some time on the project first.
Just need to shake this cold.

Ahhhhh, 'tis the season for giving AND receiving.

Ahem, and that anchor right in that area that needs "work?" I'll help with that any time - Martin Luther weekend? We could replace the normal anchors on that route too (come on, it's only one day from your schedule).
Just need to shake this cold.
Not enough to kill you and yet enough to leave no energy :(
