Cock, planned climb #5 is great. Did it some years ago in an easy day. But don't expect fourth class climbing. Expect to be soloing easy fifth class slabs with some considerable exposure. I descended straight down to near the parking area.

I've done #10 using the regular route. Be sure the cooler is stocked and near you BEFORE you sit down.

Munge, you're such a smart aleck. The hell with you and your attitude. Just to show you, I'm going to go do route # 9 this instant. In your honor.

Bear Creek is way fun. The approach has to be one of the easiest in the Sierras.

I did it a couple years ago with Jake M and we did a 10+ variation to the 5.8 arete route. Up top is a killer knife edge ridge and a tunnel.

Watch out for the T-Stroms, the peak attracts them.

It's 10+ if you stick to the arete as we mistakenly did.  Poor old Jake did it in his approach shoes. Pretty burly.

Squiddo, when are you going to get out of the gym and climb on real rock?

When I stop Mountain Biking and finish moving. Next weekend?

Factor4, question for you. When are you going to leave your "now" job, your then job, and not have to show up at your "new" job? You burn all your vaca in Fiji?

Brad,

Thanks for the heads up.  I might do Morgan via the class 1 slope from Rock Creek Lake, traverse to LLP, then back to Morgan and down again.

It's my understanding that the slabs you speak of are encountered when climbing LLP from Morgan Pass, is this correct?

Havent touched rock for a long time, so soloing easy 5th might be out of the question.

Yes, Cock I climbed it from Morgan Pass, per the Fiddler/Monyier guidebook. Really nice way to climb both peaks, but I knew I was on fifth class.

Another good hike in the area is Pyramid Peak, also at the upper end of the Little Lakes Valley. Have fun, and be safe.
