Title: Can anyone identify this climb?
Post by: MaxMud on January 28, 2015, 11:45:08 PM: Can anyone identify this climb's name and/or location? It looks fun >:D. I found it image Googling Pinnacles, but the image's page doesn't have any information.

Post by: Brad Young on January 29, 2015, 06:21:34 AM: It's almost certainly in Joshua Tree National Park, in Southern California. It might be from somewhere nearby. It most definitely isn't from at or near Pinnacles National Park.

Even though I have never been under any delusion that the media is all trustworthy, I know many of my opinions (if I hold one at all) are influenced by what I read. Who can help it? So, it was disheartening when I did a Google image search and found that this very same image has been associated with tens of articles and webpages pretending that the image has anything to do with the content. On this one, we have some insider knowledge to call out foul, but I can't help but wonder how many articles I have read over the years that had false content and images that misled me into certain interpretation when I had no idea!

If you are logged in, you can see a few screenshots I'm attaching to this post. To do image search yourself, go to "images.google.com" and click on the camera icon. Then you can search related web content based on an image.

Looks like, but it's not. I won't tell you why I'm saying it with such certainty.

Now I wonder if Brad will come back from his trip with the exact name of that rock spire. We'll find out in a week, I guess.
