And couldn't think of any one else who might mildly appreciate it... ;)
Went for a lunchtime stroll and sat on the anti-erosion boulders by the lighthouse and this is what happened:
Watching...
Perched on transplanted granite
Gaze cast upon ancient water
Cheeks kissed by ocean mist
Pelican bellies float overhead
Wishing...
Clinging to crumbling breccia
Seeking elusive stability
Neck dripping salty sweat
Condor ghosts circling below

thanks for posting, I enjoyed it.

Um, people, granite is not the enemy. Granite is just a slightly inferior medium on which to scare ourselves sh#tless.
It is clear to me that Crux hasn't experienced enough granite the right way (warm and dry, followed by a long summer evening at Salsa's B&B shared with friends and enhanced by Vicki's home cooking). Let's remedy that in the coming months? ::)

Just had dinner with Dina and Aaron and spoke of little else. ;D

Good idea, Brad.
Want to climb in the Valley this weekend?
Pcrest?
-
And nice prose.
Who else is in?
I should do taxes.

Dinner. I had dinner tonight too. Vicki and Tricia went to a School Board meeting, we all then met at home and rushed off to T-Girl's spelling bee, with... peanut butter sandwiches and water. It's a busy life, whatcha gonna do?
Yep, we'll set up a competition like this:
"Well, we got to climb with Crux in SoYo."
"So, big deal, she spent three days on Sonora Pass hanging with us last month."
"Yeah, yeah, she's planning on two weekends with us down south next autumn."
And so forth...

Rob,
I'm not thinking granite this weekend, not quite yet.
Once again I'm being forced to spend a week away from home climbing (this time in Red Rocks). Since I'll be gone from around February 27 to around March 5, and this coming weekend is the last weekend before then, I'm likely to stay closer to home.
However, "closer to home" may include a half day at the Grotto. I just talked to Roger and he needs a light day Saturday (he's doing the Nose on Friday). So he and friends are going to the Grotto. I'll probably join them just to get pumped. Maybe you'd join us there for a little early season crack workout? (You could come up and visit your canoe afterward.)

Yes, but did you stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night?

Sitting in school
This dreary morning
Hearing the call
The mountains beckon
Far away whispers
Over low and high
Fast reaching me
Crying, come
Taking chances
Face broken failure
Or ascending heights
Sweet contentment to know

Perhaps. More likely I'll start my taxes and get some bouldering in at Castle.

Very nice -
Leave it to climbing to trump hormones.
I bet you never waxed poetic to that level for a girlie. ;)

Actually wrote a song, "proprosed". It probably sucked, even though I thought it was good at the time. It worked. Spending my teens reading classics(no tv), I ended up a little romantic. It wasn't until I exchanged a load of idealism for humor that Martha could face the prospect of living with me long term. She digs all that poetic stuff and I try to make her laugh a lot.
The dialog in Jane Eyre is great stuff or there is material such as Achy Breaky Heart for those hardworking guys that don't like read'n but have access to radio.
I don't wax.
I would like to recommend reading classics while soaking in a hot bath to all the forum members. You can hold the book and turn the page with one hand and may want to choose a light paperback version rather than hardcover. Of course after a hard day of climbing.

There's much more to you that than crusty exterior.

Dude - you need professional help and poor Brad is going to need therapy!
-
This is the closest I could get to on topic without starting a new thread.
I just ate a fantastic dinner of pasta with home-made sauce and steamed vegetables. I had a glass of fine red wine. All while listening (with Vicki and Tricia) to my absolute favorite piece of classical music ever (Vivaldi - The Four Seasons; I can listen to it again and again and again - it never, ever gets old).
Life's pretty damn good isn't it?
-
yes.
-
Definitely.
