Some people think I have a little trouble letting go of older items of clothing. I'm only a little resentful of this inference - I think I'm just being a good dirtbag. Nevertheless, I can see a slight hint of truth in the thought. Maybe too I hit a turning point two weeks ago at Red Rocks when my partner Bill - who built his own 200 square foot house for a total of $3,000.00 and wears $4.00 pants - asked me whether I just couldn't afford any new clothes (he was smiling at the time, and yes, I can afford them).
The above issues crossed my mind this evening as I started to throw this weekend's climbing pants into the laundry. And it hit me then that maybe, just maybe, this pair has had it (in spite of Vicki's best and ongoing efforts):

But then the counter-thought crossed my mind - maybe just one more trip to Pinns for 'em, holes in the butt (and basically everywhere else) aside.

And then I thought of a possible better use.
I hereby offer these pants up for auction. I will send them to the single highest bidder, and that bidder can do what they want with them. The pants can be discarded, burned, used for hazardous waste training. Hell, a successful bidder might even want to wear the pants themselves - preferably on some awful Pinnacles obscurity.
Bidding must be in the form of donations to the ASCA.
For an additional $10.00 bid/donation (to the ASCA) I'll even launder the pants before sending them on ;)

BTW, on a semi-related note, my purple pack came back today from Joshua Tree Outfitters. Gary there has been making periodic repairs to this old, venerable beauty every once in a while, when I get it to him.
He told me long ago that the pack isn't worth what I spend on repairs to it. I told him that the pack is worth more than its value.
This time he told me that he doesn't know how much longer he can continue to make repairs. He said: "the cloth is too thin - I can't sew repairs to nothing."
