A conversation between me and clink on Sunday as I started up a 4th class route on Burgundy Dome.
He may be the only one that appreciates this.
I was expecting the route to be a free solo...there was no mention of pro or a bolt in the route description.
You'd think I'd know better by now...Life is like a box of chocolates...
JC: "Hey Jon - can you spot me while I start this?"
clink: "Sure, I'll be there in a sec."
clink gets to the base - "Oh, you're already started..."
JC: "Yeah, I was bouldering it out and made a few moves."
JC: "I'm gonna sling this knob - can you put me on?"
clink: "Yer on."
JC: "Hey - it looks like I can get some pro in - can you send up my rack?"
clink " Haul away."
JC: "Wow - there's an old bolt up here - do you think you can replace it when you follow?"
clink "You got it dude."
I'm nominating clink for a good natured award :)

I suspect that when Clink started out in life he was like a jagged, abrasive piece of gemstone. Something like a raw chunk of jade or sapphire.
And like a stone that's been months in a rock-polishing tumbler, with Clink the combination of aging and the benefits of years living with a fine wife and six daughters has polished him, smoothed him out and and left a more refined person.
Did you take notes about the route so you'll remember and be able to edit years from now?

clink is polished?

Clink is a damn rusted out boat anchor. Careful he doesn't land on you.
That was fine 5.4 or 5.5 route JC. Favorite of the day.
