Fun day yesterday with KC and nelkins.
It was only 87 and quite pleasant in the shade.
The morning started out a little Stinky while Noal went Out to Lunch early.
I think this one is going to be good :)

Don't be fooled by Nelkins' right foot - there is nothing there. The angle of the bulge is also understated.
Nelkins - they're all so in awe they're speechless :)
-
Damn, I just had my first passing thought about maybe, possibly missing Pinnacles (a little in passing). And it's still summer.
Stop this nonsense!
-
You and your fugacious climbing season.

clink - I think he meant stop making sense :)

JC, what is the dark crackly stuff at Pinns. A type of lichen or moss?

You are so old, so '70s. Alex probably reads posts like this and shakes her head in wonderment. Actually so would Alice. If she were on Mudn'Crud.

I'm so bummed about the end of summer. In a month or so it will become too cold to climb at Pinnacles.
-
My summer is really ramping up. Have about 1 million dollars worth of stuff that is starting to come in that has to get online. Plus a couple of other events that have to be pushed through. Currently have a couple of labs that are down. Management through corporate bureaucracy. Spent almost all day yesterday either on the phone, in meetings or sending email.
Here's to sweat in your eye.

Same busy work schedule here. Will have to get fall climbing in.

Will have to get fall climbing in.
I believe that would be autumn climbing - the word "fall" is not allowed ;D

Unless they are big and make for good stories.

I'm pretty sure you're talking about lichen. You can look at pictures of a bunch of California species here to see if anything matches what your talking about http://californialichens.org/home/photo-galleries/photo-by-spp/ (http://californialichens.org/home/photo-galleries/photo-by-spp/)
Also, I bet you guys don't know what the state lichen is :P : http://californialichens.org/state-lichen/ (http://californialichens.org/state-lichen/)

Also you guys are the best work distraction ever. I don't even have to leave my desk to get my fill of the peanut gallery.
-
Hey shrimp, watch it.
Thanks though for the lichen info.
-
omg - every time I think I have seen it all...
only the kid would know about the CA lichen society - NERD alert! :)
signed...

Your point?
Do not neglect your Facebook obligations. I prefer to look busy with Netflix....one 1 screen with the privacy protector on it...then randomly type on the keyboard (disconnected of course).
-
Dark and flaky? Holmgren sweat.
-
I had no idea California had a state lichen. Does Washington have a state moss?
I now have the attention of the director of Engineering. I do confess to binge watching Netflix lately but only once I get back to the house.

We hung on some routes, the temps when we were climbing felt cool. Stupendous, Mammary, Hard as a Rock, Relayer, Sound Chaser and Caleb finished with Castles. Style sucked but the workout was good.
I purchased a new 13 month Pinns pass. Saw a chihuahua on the trail, I think that is the only dog I've seen on the trail, although Caleb translates as dog. Wonder the dog's name was Joaquin? Should have asked.
Ran into Mak. He is stoked on the Trail Days coming up. Gonna be a hot one this week for the staff.

Clearly it is still not over. 96 on the way out. Kat and I climbed at The Frog and Tadpole today.
We only saw 10 people over the course of the day.
Bought our new yearly pass.
Believe it or not - it was actually smoky but not to the point of being smelly or irritating.
Confirmed that rebolting The Fast Lane was one of the best projects Noal and I have done.
Two stars in my book.
JC leads The Fast Lane 5.8** - thanks Noal!

Where is the love?
I know clink has an excuse b/c his daughter just had a baby.
nelkins is on vacation in alabammy.
Foggy and drizzly today in the SC mtns - bozos spinning out all over hwy 17
Relatively cool uni ride - already getting used to the fresh tire tread.
Still a bit smoke flavored on the coast...
-
Line em up.
-
facebook liked already. Or was that SPH?
-
I just tried to scope out a limestone area in Istria - vela drag, but I couldn't get close to the crags. A German movie company was shooting a western in Croatia - Winatou. Go figure.

Kate and Eric have an Isabella!
I like that pic JC and KC.

Kate and Eric have an Isabella!
What wonderful news. What a classic and classy name.
Bob, are you actually in Istria now?
Nice climbing too J.C. The time is coming soon for those of us who are normal.

Clink, congratulations to all! And welcome Isabella!

Brad, we're now back in Zagreb. I managed a few bouldering moves. The rock is good, but the edges are sharp! Double ropes, for sure.

clink - we thought about while we were on the road Sunday - figured you had your hands full :)
I think you would really dig The Fast Lane. It is long, has multiple "difficulties" (I love that waldo term),
bolts are spacious enough to keep you on your toes and the rock is outstanding.
Upper runout with plentiful sling knobs is a nice finish and adds a little to the spice.
It's the gift that keeps on giving :)
Line em up.
Knock 'em down :)
Nice climbing too J.C. The time is coming soon for those of us who are normal.
I'm considering changing my middle name to Abbie...

Bob, it is rainy here in Italy near Milan.
Klink being a new grandpa, he will have to slow down, add more bolts and wear suspenders.
-
Suspenders are for when your stomach grows and your ass disappeares. So said Dale Sutton when I asked him if liked his suspenders. He was born in 1915 and would have been 100 this year.
Thanks guys for the congrats.

Uhm, he's been a grandpa already for three years. And he just turned 50 in May. He's not slowing down though, he's been speeding it up. Is there some rule we can invoke?
-
Congratulations Clink

"Bob, it is rainy here in Italy near Milan"
It's just hot over here in Zagreb. We've got a good chance of a storm tomorrow.
