GO CLIMBING @ THE PINNACLES!
-
Do we have to do mas X rated routes?
-
The closest I'm going to get to climbing on Christmas is being in the same city as Royal Robbins.

You have family over there?

x-rated route names will suffice.
this year give the gift that keeps giving.......new routes!

Yeah. Wife's fam live in Mo-town. She has a cousin who used to kayak with Royal, but I haven't met him (the cousin, that is. Or Royal, for that matter.)

I am in Placerville. New years I will be at Pinns.

So what you're saying is you're practically a celebrity.
Anyone going out on Saturday or Sunday? I've convinced my brother that it'll be a good idea to go climbing with me >:D

Pssh, almost being only twice removed from Royal is nothing. I once talked to John Long...on the internet.
So yeah, I'm a pretty big deal. ;D

Well, what we see on this site is that you're making a lot of the time you have with Calvin. And to him you are a really, really big deal. So cool to see that.
And not to shatter your illusions, but in about 12 years you'll be going from "a really, really big deal," to "the least cool substance in the universe." It's actually a more enjoyable transition than it sounds; I've done it twice now.

4 words for Bad.... Expected Low Snow level.
Enjoy!
-
No illusions here; I'm fully expecting it. I'm just hoping that every once and a while he'll deign to do something adventurous with his pops.
Plus after an additional dozen years or so most kids tend to come around and discover that, while dad's still not cool, they're just as uncool as he is.
-
Isn't this time reserved for climbing with people named "Chris" on climbs covered in "Moss"?
Merry ChrisMoss!

Yep, I just had two great days climbing in Pinns with my 20 year old - actually, in her case, she's moving past caring that I'm totally uncool.

Pretty clever for someone who's still snow-addled.
Looks like you're going to get to/have to take that new snow blower for a spin once you're up here!
-
We will be new routing Sat and Sunday. Your welcome to join.

I spoke to soon, you're way cooler than expected ;D Also keep the cute kid picts coming, nice change from the crusty-climber banter.
All you climber dads can learn from my climber dad. He found the perfect way to get all the kids to hang out with him: move to a great climbing area and offer your climber kids a place to stay. Worked like a charm, I visit every 3-4 months and I only bring my laundry sometimes.

You're emancipated and disowned.

May you climb long and well enough to become a crusty climber yourself.

Uhm, I think you just described me. Except that my 20 year old daughter doesn't climb all that much. And we have tons of other "kids" who come up to hang with us (and feel free next time you're up to bring your laundry - seriously).

Climb long but do not become crusty

Tromped around for hours through the brush today.
Moss and lichen were soaked thoroughly and not drying out after more than an inch of rain this week, overnight temps below freezing - a frosty morning and overcast day.
The sun popped out briefly for only minutes at a time - taunting us.
Saw a really cool isolated waterfall in a secret grotto.
Oodles of tiny scattered bones from long term dining in huge overhead cavities.
Found the remains of Rudolph - a skullcap and antlers.
Bold, daring and historic FA's on Ralphie's boulder.
Good times had and memories made.
