Title: DON'T PANIC!!!
Post by: NOAL on August 14, 2016, 06:46:38 PM
The beer is no longer in the cooler on the left hand corner of the visitor center store .  It is in the cooler on the right hand side . Phew.  Carry on.

I panicked......for a moment....I thought "WHAT IS THE PINNACLES COMING TO!? NO $3.25 TALL BOYZ!!?"  Then my addled brain kicked in and saw the other cooler!   Park don't skimp on the power bill those beers are ice cold!  Even got a respectable 22oz selection.

BTW did you know that beer drinking (in cans) is legal for the whole park?  Dope smokin" ain't.

Thanks.  That's very kind. I enjoy your company too.  Saturday was the first time I have been out in about six weeks.  John might have told you but I have had a bout of sciatica that has kicked my butt literally.  I only did a half of a day to test out things.  I did pretty good.  Hiked to the high peaks, placed a bolt or two, tried hanging from hooks to get another bolt in but after a few minutes of that my back did not like it.  Forgot to bring the cheaters so hiked back down to the car.  Drank a tall boy at the visitor center and picked up a new park pass.  I have to say it was a good day.

Yikes, sorry to hear this. Is this a first time, or something you've had (and gotten over) before?

And how did Dennis screw up the park pass thing? (speaking of park passes, for the first year in many I did not get my new one at Pinnacles - we just bought one at, of all places, Crater Lake National Park).

Sigh Attica - a brutal prison from which there is no permanent escape, only parole.

Once you have a bout of it, you can only pray that it does not come back.

It is by far the most painful thing I have ever had happen to me.

I freak out every time I get a hint of symptoms.

Glad you were able to get back out - pun intended. 8)

No hanging on hooks bro and I won't ask you to help me rebolt.

Remember - sitting is death!

Stand whenever possible, get a good recliner for relaxing so you can lay back and work on core strength.

Sciatica is what motivated me to learn the unicycle, so something good did come out of it.  :yesnod: :ihih:

Speaking of...time to spin the wheel...

Looked like Dennis got your bolt bag too  :incazzato: :yikes: :nono:

It is the first time that I have experienced these kind of pinched nerve problems.  I am pretty sure I developed it by using this new sand blasting cabinet at work for multiple hours at a time over the period of a couple of months.

Getting out and hiking has helped to speed up the healing process.  The hike up to the high peaks actually made my back feel much better!  I am still not 100% maybe like 70%.  Like John stated earlier having a pinched nerve is super painful. There have been a few times in the past weeks where I was terrified that it would never go away and I would have to live the rest of my life in constant pain.  I can now sympathize with folks  that have chronic pain issues.

The entrance fee for pinns is now up to $15. A pinns pass is $25. They let you put the $15 towards the purchase of the pass. Very reasonable.

Medical professionals would tell you that walking is one of the best things you can do for these types of problems (and you found it out all on your own).

I started out walking on the beach. I figured if it was going to hurt that bad I might as well have some nice scenery. After some of the pain subsided and after many visits to my chiropractor, I started walking the rail on the railroad tracks. At first I looked down to balance along. I discovered that it was actually easier to stay balanced by looking ahead. I was able to walk some pretty fair distances without falling off the rail and it helped me work on my balance and core. After that, I took up the unicycle and I have never had so much fun getting in and staying in shape. :yesnod:
