I did my first Dawn Patrol last Tuesday.

Mr Mud,

Dawn Patrol....is that an early MTB Ride? If so, I'm always up for AM/PM (before work or night rides) riding partners and Skeggs Point is hard to beat.

Yep it was a MTB ride.  There is a short loop that I can do that is here in La Honda.  I think I can probably do skeggs since it is right up the road from where I am living.  Are night rides legal at skeggs.  I can do them here athough if I do large groups people might take notice.  I know a group that was doing night rides at Demo, I can probably get you in touch with them if you are interested.  I think I will do a DP tomorrow morning or if you are interested we could do a night ride after work.  I have just started so am not into shape and still getting the bike setup worked out.  My technical skills are weak.  For AM rides when would you be interested in starting the rides.  Next week?

Mr Mud,

I'm doubtful that night rides at Skeggs are legal (are they anywhere?) but all the times I've done it...getting "caught" would be considered a toll. b'sides....they gotta catch me first. Ok...kidding but the point is, I do it but cautiously ie: don't park ON Skyline. The same group I ride with I also ride Demo and the UC campus during the winter...Skeggs can get UGLY. I'm trying to get back into some more regular rides (night or am) but with my preferred steed in the shop on a fork warranty....it will be another week at most.

Next week AM rides could be good.

Night rides are legal at Coe or at least they used to be.  I am not in good enough shape to be confident to at least out ride the slowest rider.  So I will hold off for a few weeks/month before doing a Skeggs night ride.

You can ride Coe at night. I think Coe doesn't or didn't have an offical policy about being up there at night and at that time there wasn't anyone to say no. We used to ride out of hunting hollow (gilroy) (back in '99) on full moons. I've had some amazing night rides there. Pretty gruling. The key is having 2x lights, one on your bars and another on your head. It's all about wattage for the decent.

Skeggs at night, your asking to get hurt. That place at night isn't fun. The rangers do patol the roads at night so it's hard to be stealth with a car. They're not dumb and it hurts the park vs riders relations.

Let's do some Coe riding! We can always do a mellow one. I'd need to get my gps back and pickup a map.

Bratton...are you suggesting you ride your bike? I thought it held the wall up in your garage? Wont the wall fall down?

Nope, that's what the road bike is for. Ya swap em out. The wall can't tell the difference.
