I wanted to get on this, but i don't have any aid experience past pulling on bolts. Will I be able to get up this?
-
You’ll do just fine. I personally guarantee your ultimate success.
-
Please let us know how it goes. The only first hand description of the route that i heard was all about Geoff inadvertently(?) peeing on Aaron's rope.
-
It’s a good route. Aid is easy. Although there is 1 aid to free 5.9 move.
Bring 2 ropes as it’s cramped at the 1/2 station and you willl get pissed on.

Geez fellas - best laugh I have had all day
I was there on the day said incident occurred - flailing on Los Banditos.

We saw parties starting the 3rd pitch of OO the last 2 days at 4:30 (or was it 4:20?).
The party this evening had the good sense to back off. The 3 we saw last night kept going - but hell...maybe they like night climbing. It was clear yesterday, cloudy and windy most of today but nice this morning.
Looks like rain is moving back in. We ended the day with a late lunch at Gavin's bird spotting perch after a fairly relaxed day (if you call rebolting relaxing).

We ended the day with a serious brush-crash to a pinnacle that appears to have never been climbed.
This pinnacle is 30 feet high on the uphill side and 60 feet high on the downhill side. Neither of us could see any sign that it had ever been climbed. Possibly it's never been climbed because we also absolutely could not see any possible free-climbing line up it. It would take a minimum of one aid bolt, very possible more.
I mentioned the serious brush-crashing part to Vicki by phone. I then asked if she'd go up and belay me on an FA. Just then the phone call dropped. Coincidence? Or not.

And what dilapidated route received your public service attentions today?

I always knew she was smarter than us

Gavin's January 6, 2018 post on the "2017 Closures" sticky thread specifically answers your question. (The answer is that Machete will start out as open.)
I suspect that he'll start a new, 2018 closures thread soon (maybe even today, if he has time).

Them birds are fierce and will give you the stink eye...all the while Gavin is watching from afar.
My fuzzy recollection is they nest more to the right of rock around the clock. More next to Los bandits upper part. That was 10yrs ago. Gavin knows.
One time Jake and I did SOD, while it was open and passed one of them birds. Man he gave me the stink eye..what are you doing here!

Have your 2nd practice on the 3 bolt overhanging ladder that starts The West Face.
