Yesterday I laughed when I heard about it, but I didn't when I read the article today. They were found somewhere very close to Goat Rock. As silly as it sounds, I'm really happy that they survived and their relationship survived the ordeal as well.

It looks like the anal-ness of the rangers there finally did some good...
Teams using scent dogs started searching the park Thursday morning after a ticket issued to their car by a park ranger Saturday made it into the Department of Motor Vehicles computer system and was matched to the couple Wednesday night.

I still have a difficult time believing this. This is the reason I got tickets because I wanted to sit up there and watch a sunset. I cannot really fathom getting lost at the bottom of the falls.

And the thought of getting lost at Castle seems ridiculous to me as well. All you have to do is go, get this; UPHILL! Voila, the road is there... The weather wasn't even bad. Getting scraped up by manzanita seems a small price to pay for survival.

It's a good thing they are okay. While we all think it's hard to get lost, the thought of getting down into that valley would not be fun...Unless you could burn a tire or 2. It is odd they found them near Goat. I kinda know where they might have gotten off track where the trail goes over a rock. That or they were in the Aquarian valley?
I'm sorry, but it took the rangers how many days to realize...they aren't camping and the car isn't broken down.
I wonder if they will change thier protacol (SP?) and raise a red flag sooner. Or at least ask the CHP that goes by often to run the plate.
Do you think the Pinnacles rangers would wait so long? Wait Pinns is federal so they can run your plate on the spot.

Dude....I rolled around and laughed out loud on this one. One word, FRENCH. Well he was at least. I've been all over that park and cross country. I must admit the time I "felt" lost was looking for Aquarian but even still......unless you walk in circles this isn't the AK back country. Thank god he was in short with a tee shirt in the winter.

Dude, I was in shorts and a tshirt up there this weekend. I froze my ass off...
The difference is that the closest I came to being lost was bouldering with Mungie... :wink:

Go to Table Mountain young man. I know it is beneath your standards, but it would do you good. Steep, so you'd get strong. Lots of people, and some are noobs, so you could socialize and half the crowd would idolize you. And, bonus, it would dent your reputation as an anti Table Mountain snob. See you there this very afternoon?

let's see, if I left now, gassed up the truck, grabbed the rope and draws on the way...
almost went this last weekend to hook up with Lance and Paul, but after a summer of driving that way every weekend I passed, plus a breakfast commitment. Managed to get equipment to replace all the electrical outlets in our place. The prior owners would vacuum daily and the outlets are all loose. Actually felt good to get to castle and you're right about needing to get strong.

I think you guys who haven't been to Table can't really judge it since you haven't been there. Areas like the Eastern Front (Shameless plug) have some great cracks that even Ubber was having a hard time with. Plus my testpiece Hard Times at the Winking Lantern (RIP).
Commit to one day with me and you'll want to come back for my ultimate line when it's done. We're going to the top!

Anyway, I wasn't sure if anyone knew I was serious or not.
Contact Tom Slater for more info. He is a friend of mine that has been involved in putting up the routes. I haven't been there yet.
