Have a great journey and send a few updates please.
Last call they were in Nevada.
-
Happy Trails
-
Huh? Are they doing retired folk stuff? You know, driving an RV45 miles an hour, wearing plaid pants and such.
Yeah send pictures.
-
I wonder if they brought the normal bike and the unicycle?
Being vegans, they can probably grow mushrooms for dinner or snacks in a composting toliet.
-
Unicycle was brought. They made it to Utah. Stopped at Bonneville Salt Flat where the unicycle speed record was broken!
Some nice pics on bookfarce.
-
How do you carry a unicycle on a car rack?
It’s gotta look odd. Now I am flummoxed???
Clink, best post ever!!!
-
Yep, talked to them this afternoon and found out the unicycle is in the vehicle.
-
Good to hear Clink!
Where are they headed? Woodstock?
-
??
-
Red River Gorge at some point
-
That’s not the Pinnacles?
1st Brad goes to Washington and now the Cooks back east.
The Monument is rip for the taking!
-
RIP JUAN
-
I just read Woodstock 50 is cancelled.
-
I was hoping JC would attempt a nude freesolo of the Saint Louis Arch. I guess after stripping down at the base, he realized that he was way sweaty and aborted the plan.
Last check they were crossing the Ohio River road in slow traffic.

Hold it, hold it!
Did I hear the plan wrong?
I thought they were heading clear out to New York so that John could repeat the famous nude ascent of Shockly's Ceiling at the Gunks?! Come to think of it there is a very strong resemblance between J. C. and this supposed "Dick Williams" character who's in the famous photo....
-
;D ;D
-
They bought whiskey in Kentucky today, but not enough for Clink and me.
-
Tragic!
-
What?!!!!!!
-
Return of the King and Queen of Kentucky, it's like Tolkien but scarier!
-
They're in Indiana today and continuing to have fun.
And while in Indiana they saw this building, and wondered if a certain member of this forum has a secret, second life:

Anyone who's 29 years old, climbs hard, surfs a ton, lives in the People's Republic of Santa Cruz, and married intelligently and well want to fess up to anything?

LOL

I think everything listed here disqualifies me from being a bible thumper
-
^^^
But you soooo belong in Indiana! You'd love it there.
-
Outlook not good
-
But it was in Liberty, Indiana.
Have you ever seen corn-field surfing? It's gotta be a thing!
-
ACTUALLY wait a minute....did you see the church schedule??? If I can get away with working only Wednesday night and Sunday I'M IN!!!!!
I'll get someone to cover the Wednesday night bible study for me, and then I'm only working Sunday. I can stay on the west coast and commute each
Sunday in my private "Bible believers" jet.
-
Church of beer!!!
Beer is never drank warm.
-
I think they miss us :)
-
I wonder if they took my advice and stayed off the Nose - Washington's
-
A bird in the hand is better than too much humidity.
-
Clink, what’s that smell?
-
I wish I knew, but on the other hand...
-
BTW, JC is not allowed to post on M&C until he has touched Pinns rock. He is allowed to suffer in silence :)
-
I wish I knew, but on the other hand...
So they are back?
-
They may have had Beany help them digitally fake the whole trip and had some alone time at home.
In that case, they never left.

Burp.
Sniffle.
I like carrots.

Smells, I mean sounds like they are back.
-
All the pix are totally photoshopped.
I wonder if JC will come back with an epic stache, and ride the dirtbike again.

Vegans do have a distinctive smell.

I forgot chickens (includes frozen ones) and sheep. We stayed at one winery in Kansas that had about 30 sheep with a miniature burro as overseer. The sheep noises are creepy. They sound like people trapped in he!! :madmax: :yikes:

Winery in Kansas??
Makes no sense.

Of course it makes sense They're a red state.

Makes perfect sense.
The whole damn state is limestone.

Who would have thunk.

Who would have thunk.
Kansas is the "We try too hard state".
They have oodles of scenic byways that are far from scenic.
Maybe the wine is to help obfuscate the obvious.
The soils are right but the climate is a bit iffy for grapes - to say the least.
We checked out Castle Rock - a chalk tower that gives new meaning to mud n crud.

...obfuscate the obvious.
I feel like we need to make a route name or some such from this phrase.

I didn't give him a chance to say "Invalid without pictures". Sadly (or luckily), there was no climbing allowed and it's on private property with loooong open distances (nice place to sight in the scope on your deer rifle) with no one else around. :devildevil:
-
Some just want to take all the fun out of choss.

This one is for clink

That's crazy. Paul Bunyan's hammer?

Here's Kat posing with a couple more sculptures at Wayne Porter's park. Don't be deceived by the camera angle. The horse you see is about 60 feet long, 40 feet tall and weighs in around 40 tons. Wayne also crafted a giant Bull's head with horns that is 60 feet tall and about 25 tons. It rivals the heads at Rushmore. Wayne is one of America's true "characters"

Crazy big quartz and feldspar crystals in the rock - golfball size and bigger - knobby goodness but even more unique than that "Other" place with knob-size crystals - inappropriate talk for a Pinnacles thread but hey - I didn't start it :nonod: :ihih: :arf:

Where are the unincycle pictures?

Where are the unincycle pictures?
Here is one from a ride I took on a challenging gravelly road on the edge of Lake Bonneville.
It was almost 100 degrees but we were desperate to get some exercise and stretch out after the drive.
We did yoga later in the shade of the truck and then stayed there waiting for the sun to go over the ridge.
The air became incredibly still after the sun went down and then the wind started whipping all night (just about the time we were getting to sleep). At least it cooled off a little. We definitely had some hotter nights back east.

So what you are saying is that being a sweaty male riding half a bike is a turn on?
-
Oh, I thought this trek was done in the RAV4...hence the confusion on how the Uni-C was being carried.
Nice rig.
Klink, note the air vent is open.....wise move.
That will work nice at the Pinns, but not Brad's driveway.
-
Here's a couple more from the towpath in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
The towpath is the old path adjacent to the Ohio Canal.
Handlers led beasts of burden as they pulled barges along the canal.
Super fun ride and definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
Kat ran ahead of me checking for obstacles and took pics as well as a few short videos.
Both of these pics are screen shots from the videos. Arms are out just for show.

He only needs to go as far as Santa Cruz to get furry.

At the end of the ride I had to make a series of really tight turns over smaller bridges with bump-ups over concrete edges and then over one last large bridge. I looked ahead at the whole things and said out loud "I can't do that!" I still have no idea how I pulled it off but I made it - squealing the whole time - now THAT video would have been priceless. It all happened too fast :yesnod: :out:

New record set (2 months on the road) and not a peep.
Soledad now has a roundabout where you turn at the park onto/off Metz road.
Made for a rude awakening in heavy fog while looking for the stop sign on the way out.
Metz road is a bit wild coming in to the west side from King City.
They are building a Tesla charging station at the end of Main Street.
Ay yi yi yi.
-
They are building a Tesla charging station at the end of Main Street.
They should hook up the charging station with the state prison/ aka Correctional Training Facility. So they can have inmates riding stationary bikes 24/7 to generate power for the charging station.
-
^^^
I was thinking kiddie pools by each station where people can stand to plug in.

Thanks to your warning, Vicki managed the roundabout in the van.
Since you'd warned us, we weren't surprised. We were, however surprised at the fire damage near the park boundary. In fact, I'd completely forgotten about the fire itself. I suppose we should feel lucky that it didn't burn a larger area, but what it got to it burned pretty bad.
The normal drive in to the West Side (this taken about 1/2 mile from the entrance cattle guard:

Took a quick trip to La La Land to see our friend Dave (and his wife Lynette).
We took a hike up Beacon Hill with Dave and encountered these fine specimens doing some sort of mating ritual.
Dave was already way too close (he got the picture) and the slithering serpents seemed oblivious as they swirled and moved closer to him.
We were both going - "dude!" and his response was - "they're not predators" (maybe he was a snake charmer in a previous life)
:yikes:

Makes you wonder what those snakes were in a former life.

Dave seems to have the mentality of a Pinnacles fanatic.
Maybe he could help me get my "California coastal mountains perfect trifecta" photo?

He seems to have something...
Hiking the coast will be hard to do from Wonder Lake. He's headed back after Turkey day.
The lake house/life is nice...
