Just read this and I'm super bummed. Sending good thoughts and hoping for safety for all the people in the area.

Damn!
We spent so many days camping in Big Basin when I was a kid. Such a wonderful park. I still remember crawdad fishing, Snipe hunts when older kids were along with other families, the huge trees and the huge trees.
Let's hope that the damage is minimal.
-
La Honda has been evacuated too.
I also pray that the animals in the area (many outdoor cats around) get through this ordeal unscathed. I hope the fire gets under control soon.
-
Crazy that they evacuated LaHonda...I see Scott’s Valley was evacuated.
I can’t imagine having to do that with all of my toys and family.
-
What a beautiful place. We spent a lot of time there growing up. What a shame. Near those buildings were magnificent trees. Super bummed too.
-
they seem to be holding the line at old haul road and pescadero rd at the moment. Hopefully no big changes over the next few days.
-
Looks like they made some progress in containment on the north side. There was a break in the smoke yesterday afternoon. I rode up to skyline and it was not so bad.
-
Ah, that makes sense that they have a line they are holding.
Images have not shown much more spread.
Crazy to think looking out from Goat Roxk that all that can be seen was impacted.
I always shutter about a fire on our side of the hills.
The brush is so think up on Montebello facing East.
-
Read with better visibility that they were able to get some helicopters in to dump water. Wonder if they are getting it from that Pompino reservoir?
-
La Honda is at the north edge (the letter e in that "North Zone" label).
-
Looking at the calfire mape and sdsc site it looks like they have managed to hold the fire a Loma Mar (Pescadero Road and Wurr Road). The line has not really advanced in two days.
-
yeah looks like it. And to the south as well
-
still burning toward Butano
-
No lightening and 13% contained.
-
Hope more good news by the end of the week.
I just want cleaner air so I can get outside.
-
We had a few minutes of light rain around 6 yesterday evening.
I stood in the front door looking out and calling...more!...harder! (let the jokes begin).
Kat said some folks on social media said there was some more light rain late last night.
The trick for us the last 3 days has been to get out early before things heat up.
The air is pretty good in the morning while it is still cool.
Once the land starts to warm, the air rises and smoky air can come in from the ocean to fill the gap.
I'm not a meteorologist but I used to play one in the community colleges.
We've been getting some light fog too.
There is ash washing up on the beach - looks weird.
-
Kat said some folks on social media said there was some kook yelling out how he wanted it harder and more of it.
