The April 1st Pinnacles Climbers Weigh-in
Rules;
State your current weight, times the number(s) right of the decimal of the hardest route Y.D.S rating redpointed at Pinnacles during the previous 12 months. Weigh sans clothes and gear, (NOTE:valid without pics please). Highest number wins!
Examples;
Climber A, Weight 138 X Redpoint (5.12) 12 = 1,794
Climber B, Weight 140 X Redpoint (5.13) 13 = 1,820
Climber C, Weight 220 X Redpoint (5.8) 8 = 1,760
Climber D, Weight 185 X Redpoint (5.10) 10 = 1,850
We have Climber D as the winner!
Strategy; One may get a hard redpoint in May, then gorge yourself until the following April 1st for an inflated number. If you are a fatty like me, don't grab the draw.
Prize; BRAGGING RIGHTS and a $100 gift certificate to the climbing shop, gym or bakery of your choice.
I am looking forward to seeing Atomizer with a double chin.
-
Making me do math? I had a hard enough time in college holding my breath while weaving.
Math in my head
-
Fun. But you should account for letter sub grades. If your hardest redpoint grade ends in a letter b, add your body weight again. If it ends with the letter c, add twice your body weight and if it ends with the letter d, add three times your body weight.
-
Good point. Letter grades shall have the ascending value of 0.20
Modification;
5.10a = 10.2
5.10b = 10.4
5.10c = 10.6
5.10d = 10.8
5.11a = 11.2
5.11b = 11.4 and so on.
Strategy; Planned parenthood. Get that hard redpoint in the spring. Plan the birth of your child in May(like me) of the following year for maximum potential weigh in on April 1st. Everyone else, just eat for two for the summer, fall and winter.
Get boosted on April 1st. That extra.5 milliliters could make the difference.

Not to worry (Except for what the sneaky Beanoler might be up to). Just post your weight and hardest red/pinkpoint and we will do the math for you. Or do the math and post only the total and let us have to figure out how you came up with that number.
Note: You may not include the weights of the people you carpool with.

lol, I cudda been a contenda!
-
Ugh almost had a 10c
-
I already forgot what my calculator just said.

1680!

^^^
Skinny little rat. And it isn't yet April.
-
1680!
New Rule to consider to benefit both skinny little rats and lithe, supple climbing goddesses and gods. 90% of excess accessory weight carried on a redpoint, that has nothing to do with accomplishing the lead, can be added to your body weight amount on April 1st. The 10% deduction will be waved if the individual hasn't climbed or worked out in a gym for a year.
Examples; Cams/nuts/pins on a sport route, water, pack filled with rocks and stolen short-shorts, your partners lunch or cellphone. Not the 11 month-old chilling in the kiddie backpack.
Of course the 200lb climbers like me could do the same(not likely). :)
Input please.
-
^^^
Not sure what you're trying to say, but I may be the only climber on this site who owns a nine inch cam. And if I do understand your post, a nine inch cam might be a game changer.
-

Lite Beer for you.
You are resigned to repeating new routes to break off the loose holds.
-
1881 so far
what if i lose weight?
-
Mission Inpastabowl and you won't.
-
Mr mud could shave, loose at least 10lbs that way.
-
We need additional rules. What about bonus points for on sights, also age points.
-
Hmm, additional rules, but don't want to make it overly complicated.
I'll work on the on sights, they should count for more.
If an aged individual climbs with Depends, glasses or dentures, has a pacemaker, hearing aid or stint, those items should be weighed and that amount added again to the climbers weight at weigh-in, while wearing them. If a seeing eye dog or emotional support animal leads a route with and roped to you, their weight may be combined to yours(Did Noal ever get that monkey?).
Drugs and medication of of any kind are allowed, as long as they are reasonably available to everyone. You may represent any country, gender, ideology, or creed, factual or delusional of your choosing. Please refrain from blocking access to approaches while protesting.
A pocket knife may be carried and allowed at weigh-in. Conceal and carry firearms are prohibited because of the danger they pose of accidental discharge when falling or ricochets while shooting at scorpions, snakes or yellow-jackets in self defense.
Levitation is strictly prohibited in any form or practice. Though it is impossible and pure fantasy, I have to mention it, as a rumor that one among us has been suspected of levitating, which would negate the relevance of grading of climbs or weight of individuals. Fortunately, all persons will be considered innocent until scientifically proven guilty.
Visualization is acceptable.
So, way too many rules. We will have to consolidate this into a simple, short and easily understandable statement. Then patent that process and sell it to the IRS and local planning/building departments.
-
Definitely more rules,
Pink Points, Flash, Red Point, On Sight, No Sight, Third sight, Orange Sight, YoYo Sight, Siege Points,
This is climbing the ultimate rebel sport so yes, we need rules. Lots of rules that must be adhered to with religious zeal.

The stories are you have on sighted more pink points and flashes than any climber alive.
A book I read recently referred to the propagation of an ideology being practiced with the "Passion of priests".

I'm out. I intend to shoot the crap out of any yellow jackets i see!

The April 1st Pinnacles Climbers Weigh-in day!
Rules;
State your current weight, times the number(s) right of the decimal of the hardest route Y.D.S rating redpointed at Pinnacles during the previous 12 months. Weigh sans clothes and gear, (NOTE:valid without pics please). Highest number wins!
Note: For letter grades add .25 for b, .50 for c, and .75 for d.
If you free-soloed the route, which is cheating, the penalty is to deduct the weight of your rope from your weight.
If you donated a kidney after the redpoint, you may add in twice the weight of the kidney back to your weight.
Examples;
Climber A, Weight 138 X Redpoint (5.12b) 12.25 = 1,690.5
Climber B, Weight 140 X Redpoint (5.13c) 13.50 = 1,890
Climber C, Weight 220 X Redpoint (5.8) 8 = 1,760
Climber D, Weight 185 X Redpoint (5.10d) 10.75 = 1,988.75
Climber D wins!
Remember, you can post up a number and let us guess as to how you came up with it. The FBI will not investigate any claims.
Entries shall be posted by the 7th of this month. Discuss as long as you like.
Go find a scale!

1741.5

20400

BAP, did you ride a horse up a 5.1? No, more like did you take a pack train up a 5.1?
-
OK - even if I did redpoint a climb in the last year I would be screwed - since I have never redpointed anything harder than a 5.8.
Not going to tell you the number, because you could figure out my weight ;-).
-
The game rule did not specify the unit of measurement for weight. I weigh 2,000 ounces, and I red pointed several 10A last year in Pinnacles - therefore 2,000 x 10.2 = 20,400.

And I thought I was a lawyer ;)
-
But she's right, Clink. I guess you shoulda' been more careful.
(And how many of those "onces" she weighs are just pure toughness?)

1,788
Weight is down and too busy to redpoint harder stuff.

I fixed it for you.

I may have to buy you a custom t-shirt for you to wear climbing or just to make guys or girls take notice with this quote. (Unless someone comes up with something better.)
This reminds me of Noal's all-time best Pinnacles quote ever,(Which has got to end up referenced in the guide???) and when coupled with the Leeper hanger on the graphic is as classic as it gets.
Note: The Official unit of measure shall be US pounds(not Troy), on Judgement Day, April 7th, in the year of the guy Brad is always referring to.
-
still need an onsight bonus. So far this season my onsight and lead are only one letter grade apart.
-
Hmmm, what does the committee (of those who should be committed) of Pinnacles climbers think?
My thoughts 100 points bonus. Or 3x the number of pushups you can do in a minute sometime between April 1st and 7th.
Munge, feel free to weigh in with a highly regulated and suppressed portion of your thoughts.
-
Why thank you Brad for the edit.
Yup, getting old sucks!

You probably should just let her win.
I have it on good authority that she's consulting with an attorney about your cheating, whining ways (ex post facto definition of body weight).
-
BAP is clever. Sounds like I should ask advice from BAP and for a deposition I will be giving in May for a property access dispute. :)
Nope, I will call you. I don't want to inadvertently change any former descriptions, statements or assessments I made! It's hard to keep emotions out of this situation and be pragmatic.

Hey, she'd be fun on your side in a deposition!!
"Did you just fail to address my client with the word 'sir'? F#$K YOU [insert name]."
"Did you just interrupt my client? F#$K YOU [insert name]."
I might pay to see that one.
-
still need an onsight bonus. So far this season my onsight and lead are only one letter grade apart.
No feedback, so an onsight shall gain a climbers full body weight as a bonus.
Example; A 150 lb climber who onsights a 5.10a shall have 1500 plus 150 bonus points for a total of 1650 points.
Please use your weight to the nearest pound to factor points. I'm afraid BAP may have opened the door I left unlocked to the use of grams, all types of quarks and/or pick any number of photons.
-
^^^
I think we could all probably agree that BAP is actually some sort of quark. Anyone disagree?
-
In a vampires world, somewhere between an enormous splinter and a five foot and change stake.
-
I might pay to see that one.
Yes you might, since the person's attorneys who are going to be depositing me, has garnered enough fame, as to be household name. With my wandering mind, I will have to rehearse a bit to stay on the facts.
JC, I made a geological gaffe. Could you hear the dragging?

LOL, gotta love a good Brad sandbag reach problem when climbing with BAP. :)

Clink 203
The winner is Clink!
Wait that’s wrong, the winner with the highest points is BAP at 20400!
A first, second place, Brad pounding it away at 2,079!
Third is a busy F4 at 1,788
Forth is Zay at respectable 1,741.5
Fifth is Clink, who did get a bag of coal once.
Try to guess how the numbers were reached or there is always next year
-
Yeah I’ve dropped 20-25 lbs since the start of COVID.
I just didn’t not have time to get on harder stuff.
Nothing like walking up little J thinking the holds feel large!
I just need to grow a beard and wear glasses.
Wait I am wearing glasses….oh no!!!
-
Hooray! ;D
-
Wait, I am third at 1881. Plus, a 1,000 point on sight bonus.
-
U are ineligible being in Washington!
Denied!
