Last few weeks I've been getting service all over the east side.
Historically, I've always lost service the second I hit Tres Pinos. Lately, I have service from Tres Pinos all the way to the campground, even all the way to Old Pinnacles trailhead... then it comes back at Discovery Wall! Hell, I couldnt believe it but I actually made a phone call from the campground store (and definitely could have from disco wall).
They they put up a new tower or something?
I have AT&T...

Great news!

I was staying at the Pinnacles campground in early February and was surprised that I had a phone call as well as a text message. I also have AT&T. Interestingly, the reception is great around the campground, but gets worse as you head to Old Pinnacles and Bear Gulch area. There must be a new cell tower somewhere along Hwy. 25.

Have some of the condors been outfitted with signal boosters to help earn their keep?

There is a new cell tower, just north of Hwy. 25 and the east side park entrance. It does seem to work best for coverage for AT&T users, but to some extent for other service providers too.

I was in the east side/bear gulch area in January. I have T-Mobile and found that once I gained a little altitude, I had at least touch-and-go reception. It was quite a treat to make my unnecessary climber Instagram posts live instead of days later at home.
