Title: dangit
Post by: mynameismud on December 27, 2007, 01:01:14 PM
Ok, so I restrained my self by not swearing that is a start.  I just got yelled at by an upset user for something that I did not do.  Argghhh, nothing like having the responsibility of a manager but not the authority or pay.

What pisses me off is I told this guy twice not to bounce this guys machine a second time without contacting him.  What does he do, bounces the guys machine.  40 minutes into a 55 minute simulation for the second time in one day.

I'd rather be drilling in the rain.

OK, once more in English please? Are you talking about work or home? This site or something else?

assume the mantle of authority by explaining why he shouldn't be a dipshit. Feel free to give up the name of the guy that did the bouncing to the user so the user can put that into his feedback.  don't take the blame.

Yep this is work related and i am forsaking English.  Gave the name of the idiot to the user.  Seems people think I am in charge so if they are really upset they just contact me.

I suppose the part that bugs me is I am not even supposed to deal with workstation stuff anymore.  I am strictly server side.  Except the workstation guy that they hired, that I was not allowed to interview, knows nothing about UNIX.  Even though he has acquired two certifications since starting here because all he does all day is study for Certs.

He told me he fixed the guys problem by doing a kill on inetd and did not see how that would affect the end user.  So I told him the next time he shuts down someones workstation to use init or shutdown - after the contacting the user.  He looked at me puzzled.  Perhaps it's my English.

Just needed to vent.  I am back to the normal grind now only for some reason I  do not seem  motivated this week.  I know it will really start to ramp up next week.

Squido, since I know you're reading this, I am at home with a cold. Dawsons went anyway, all the info I gave you is accurate, just that I'm not there. They'd love to climb with you.
