so when you say, cater to climbers at the park, do you mean installing hot springs, providing adult beverages, and back and neck massages?
or do you mean selling chalk and tape at the store?

Darn Joe you beat me to it! I second the adult beverages and other services. Climbing at the Pinns takes alot out of you.

Was this formerly the Pinnacles campground store? Did it get redecorated? Or are the stuffed animals and the snake skins still there?

More details. Maybe this can be the new place to hang out after a day of cragging.

Hey Joe, how was climbing with Brad? You have to remember to bring an extra sandwich w/o mustard for him  ;).

Yeah, what a prince of a man Factor is!

Mr Mud rides down with him so he and I can go climb our project, Factor and Squido are going off in the opposite direction altogether. Talking in the parking lot before we all take off, Factor hands me a sandwich. "I was making sandwiches and I made you one." I said, "Wow, thanks. But it probably has mustard on it." "No," he says," you don't like mustard."

I admit  that I usually just throw some crap in and then forget to eat it, but what a truly nice thing to do.

Adam,

1. coffee in the morning, but you'd have to alert climbers to it, otherwise they may forget unless they are camping there.
2. Beers at the end of the day, patio area, to drink them at.
3. a grill with hamburgers at the end of the day works well too.
4. chalk, tape, sling, guidebooks, extra belay devices, maybe some extra harnesses should cover the "oh crap, I forgot the xxx" syndrome.
5. A big sign that says climber's welcome. That or something that says "climber's please be aware, wild Feral Rat on the loose."

It looks like this.....

1. Good Coffee, NOT Farmers.
2. Some to go food, samwhiches, chips, cookies, and Snickers for Factor4
3. Accessories: Tape, Chalk, nail polish and hairspray (kidding on the last two)
4. Beer, Beer, and Beer. None of that light crap either
5. A hot grill would ROCK....long live the San Andrea Brewing Company and Pub fries

Chalk, tape, coffee, beer, a place to hang out and occasionally curse and swap lies without getting yelled out, a board to hang up a couple of climbing photo's (us climbers need to stoke our ego's), cheap women, some kind of cheap food to go, a place to hawk Pinnacles stuff, and what ever.

Hey Adam, Thank you very much for joining up here and asking this bunch what we would be interested in.  It is appreciated.

Again Thank you and
Here's ta sweat in your eye
Erik

jeez, that sounds like the kind of food you would find in a 7-11.
how about some tempting snacks to help absorb the beer.  or I suppose we could do chips and salsa.

Adam,
Coors is not beer!
Chalk the block kind is best.  Tape cloth athletic tape (Johnson&Johnson is the standard).  I would not sweat the expensive stuff initially.

Stom nailed this one. J&J 2 inch cloth athlectic tape...gold standard indeed and worth the extra $$. Get some Endo (Frank Endo) Block Chalk. I'm hold off the climbing gear to start.....unless you have budget for inventory (this stuff isn't cheap and the soft goods to have a "recommended shelf life)...not like you want to buy a 5 year old harness.

I'm not sure if this is practical, but it would likely be well used and it would keep your store in climber's minds. How about a web cam pointed toward the park, to show weather and conditions there "now." I suggest that people looking to climb will hit it several times before their trips (at least). It would certainly create good will by and between the store and climbers. Too expensive or technological? I don't know.
