If Yahoo falls I will probably give up my Yahoo account and go with the Google solution.

Being in IT the one part of this deal that keeps going through my mind is how the two companies deal with their IT centers.  I think, as many people do, Microsoft and Yahoo are a world apart.  If this merger happens it could be ugly from a business stand point.  Many of us in IT think that from an IT point of view it will be even uglier.

Yoohoo has a strong brand. Migration, if it were to happen, would take a long time after purchase.

I will believe it when I actually see it.  MS has the worst track record out there for interoperability with other vendors and working with existing standards.

There's nothing to believe. "it" is your own expectation.

This seems to be driven primarily by the EU courts from what I can tell in the article.
