its official. my check has been cashed and im on the entrants list. if i had waited one measly more day it would have been filled and id be off the hook.
koh-mitted. :-\

Sweet. If all esle fails have Tessa run it for you.
-
well, less than 4 weeks to go. i havent trained as hard as i had planned, and i havent lost the weight i wanted, but ive had a solid string of 20+ mile mountain runs and i have lost about 10 lbs since xmas, so i think ill at least finish.
this is my last 'big' week before tapering. hoping for 60ish miles this week with 26 of them on the course this saturday.

Send it

might not happen this year. i got 8 miles into a trail run saturday and my left knee started hurting BAD for no apparant reason. I had to limp out 2 miles. going to see an ortho at 1pm. feels like tendonitis, but it came on so out of the blue, and so painful that im not sure.
F%&C!!!
-
running is dangerous.
-
so i ran for the first time in 12 days this morning. just two miles, but no pain. no pain going up and down stairs. gonna do 4 tomorrow, 6 saturday, 8 sunday, then 8 or 10 on monday. if i have no pain, then im going for it on 5/10, with the promise to myself that i drop at the first sign of knee pain...
-
have fun!
-
Hopefully it all goes well... :)

Here's ta sweat in your eye

What's the latest, Sal? Knee holding out?
-
the knee is better. ive done a coupla little runs with no pain. i cant seem to get it to hurt when i do bends or any crazy fast motion.
im going to try to run the fucking thing....ill probably have to drop after 10 miles, but who cares. nothing else to do.
-
Mmmm. My sinus infection moved into my chest on Friday. I still ran it. I finished, nothing really more to say, it was NOT enjoyable.
Now this chest thing is really bad and I have a 102 fever.
-
Get better! Then you can start training for your next crazy race...
-
SSWWWwwwwwwwwwweeeeeetttttttttt.
Congrats, way to pull through, especially with minimal training and the chest funk.
Get well soon.
-
Woohooo!!! Congrats dude!!!! That's sick!!! Hopefully you are not anymore.

How would you rate the course / experience?
I am looking to do a 50 miler in '09. Currently considering either:
PCT 50
Catalina 50
AR 50
Leaning towards Catalina, but looked long and hard at the PCT. Would be good to hear a 1st hand account.
-
rough, i dont have much experience so take it with a grain of salt...
the expierence is cool.. it is well organzied, desolate, pretty course...
it is a tough course. i have only 3 50k's and two 50 milers. both 50 milers have been the pct, so i dont have much to compare to, and the 50k's i have done are easier ones.. lake hodges 50k twice and the high desert 50k once. never done a road marathon.
the pct takes its toll... first 13 miles are mostly uphill. its dry down there, and in May, the weather can be brutally hot.
i think avalon is easier, but havent done it and dont know for sure. it is more expensive and more of a pain in the ass with the logistics of getting out there.
fuck it, do them both. run the high desert 50k in december, avalon 50 miler in january, then the pct 50 in may...
-
Yeah I am really leaning towards Avalon. AR50 would be for convenience only because its so close. I just am too impatient to wait until April hehe :)
-
there is always the helen keller 50 miler in sacremento. i think it is in november. completely flat 25 miles out, 25 miles back, mostly on pavement (a challenge in and of itself).
i think i am going to run this in hopes of qualifying for western states.
-
Sal,
I think we're both nuts... You're doing the Western States qualifier, and I'm going for a RAAM qualifier. Not sure if I'd do it yet if I did qualify though... :)

F*&k Sakes.
