Have you watched Running On the Sun (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0236702/) yet?

Salad, I agree.
To give others some context, the movie is about the annual Badwater Ultramarathon (http://www.badwater.com/) that starts from Badwater, Death Valley (280' below sea level) to Mt. Whitney Portal at 8360' covering 135 miles and "three mountain ranges for a total of 13,000’ of cumulative vertical ascent." There were years that they had to run in a temperature of 135 degrees. The record time is 22:51:29 for men (10.2 minutes/mile) and 27:56:47 for women (12.4 minutes/mile).
What I took away from the movie was: Everyone in it will suffer big big time for sure. Some people would end up in hospital. To some degree, it's not a contest of fitness; rather, those who can endure the pain finish in the end. It's the attitude that you finish the race with that sets you apart. There is a reason why I say "the Brits are great."
