Title: More Double Madness...
Post by: F'ueco on May 12, 2008, 08:09:33 AM
Saturday was my second double century of the year... 210 miles in 15:55. And only 13,900 feet of climbing.  ;)

And another one... This one was kind of like Bikram yoga. Temps well into the 100s, and plenty of suffering to go around... 203 miles, 8500 feet of climbing, 15:15 total time.

Which doubles did you do?

Devil Mountain on April 26, Central Coast on May 10, and Davis Double on May 17.

Next up is the really nice one... Eastern Sierra on June 7 (starts/finishes in Bishop).

Are you going to do the Terrible Two?

I'm skipping that one and going for the Grand Tour Triple the following weekend. But I will be working one of the rest stops at the TT.

Very impressive F'ueco!!!

All I can say is that I'm now into my 3rd week of 3+ days/wk commuting to work on a bicycle (either the road or mountain bike depending on how much I'm carrying on my back).

Got another few weeks of insanity at work and then I'm hoping to add some "fun" mileage to my morning commutes - either Fremont Older when I'm on the Gary Fisher or Montebello Road or Moody-Page Mill when I'm on the Felt.

Someday, I can say I'm 1/10th the man that F'ueco is!

I managed to commute on the bicycle today.  Unless I retire some time soon I do not fiqure there is anyway I will log fueco's miles..

Commuting with the laptop, cloths, etc helps make the hills a bit more of a workout.

It's alright... You're probably 10 times the climber I am right now...  :o

I did the Eastern Sierra Double this weekend for the third straight year. Good stuff! The first 107 miles took 7:45, and the last 93 miles took 5:03. The last 36 miles from Benton to Bishop took 1:17... It's amazing what a 15 MPH steady tailwind and a slight downhill can do for you!  ;)

My overall time was 12:48, good enough for 35th fastest out of 186 finishers... And now I get to psyche up for the triple century coming up in 19 days.  :)

And a few picture from Sunday's short jaunt up to Tioga Pass from Tuolumne Meadows...

Mud closed up my computer before I had chance to pull out my calculator last night. 35/186 is top 18.82%. That's rad!  Now, is this the same F'ueco who said he didn't race?  ;)

35th seems good to me and I suck at math  and do not have a calculator.

Yup, no racing for me... I sucked in the only race I did this year. But I will be doing an actual race in September. One that might take me as long as 40 hours to complete...  :o

No, the Hoodoo 500. My girlfriend is going for the 508. So it works out... She crews for me, and I crew for her.  :)

This just in...

I am crazy. Details at 11:00...  ;)

Yep, another long and crazy ride this weekend. 296 miles in 22 hours. Only about 10,000 feet of climbing, and good times were had by all. I'll post a bit more when I have more time...

Okay, tell the secret. What butt butter do you use?

I heard from some dirt divas that they make this chamois creme with mint so when you stand up in the saddle, there is this coolness rising from below.  :D

Here's the course map (Malibu-Oxnard-Simi Valley-Ojai-Carpenteria-Gaviota-Malibu):

And here's what roughly 300 miles look like on the freeway (Red Bluff to Fresno in this case):

Yes. But trust me... You don't want the flavored stuff.
