Mr Mud: can you help me with a few user problems with this site? One, I can't figure out how to register and then have my registration stay permanent. It seems I have to sign in separately each time. This discourages use because it takes extra time. Two, it is very convenient when a site (like the SPH site) shows that there are new messages. On that other site the little bell to the left of messages is colored in orange when there are new messages. Again, this type of feature encourages use by making use easier. Three, it appears that the date time feature showing when posts are made might be off?
In anticipation of your response I will now focus on trying to DIE. Thanks.

LOL!!!
I think he's getting the hang of this internet humor stuff.
Mr Mud, you'll probably need to set it up from him when you're at his place.
Brad, the orange highlights for new messages only happens when you are logged into the account you registered. You have to activate the registration by clicking the link in the email you received. Then the first time you log in, be sure to click the little check box that says something like "remember me on this compute" THat way you won't have to log in each time, and you can "spray" and "name drop," common past times on the boards as you've seen on ST.
Cheers,

What was said above will work. The first thing you have to do is register. I do not see a login that I can attribute to you. If you have actually registered a user name then I can enable it from here but there is not one that says Brad or Young. Possibly you have chosen something else.
In order to register click the register button on the Home page of the Masters of Mud Pinnacales National Monumnet Forum Home Page. select a password and answer the questions. If you cannot figure it out have Kattie do it.

Now go spurt climbin or DIE.

"have Katie do it"
That's classic!!!
-
OK, Mr Mud, I followed your instructions, all except the DIE part. I'll wait for you to peel us both off a multi pitch route for that, for now. The instructons for registering aren't a model of clarity. I skipped some stuff because it didn't seem to apply. Now what happens? Also, Rob's site seems to have a "cookie" that lets me post from two email addresses (home and work). It seems to know what I have read at the other place and not tell me that. Does the same thing happen here?
-
You will recieve an email at the email address that you listed. click on it and your account will be activated. If you have cookies enabled it should work the same.

So go for the Fish Breath Arete. 3 pitches. Loose - especially the third pitch. A couple of questionable bolts. And way runout. Still needs a second ascent...
-
Where is it?
damit.
-
The arete behind the east end of Machete. You can access it by reversing the walk off above the caves. Don't you fall now!
-
Eric, didn't we check out that arete last year when we were working on Hook and Drill?
-
too late now
alas it is the coveted second ascent!
-
It was already too late because Mr Mud said there was already a route on it. Nice location.
-
The sharp arete directly above the caves, or the one on the uphill side?
-
It's on a separate pinnacle Jody, "behind" the Monolith. As you do the normal descent, it is the wall on the south side of the gully. It starts out of the meadow where the third class traverse part of the descent starts. I helped Jim with the first pitch, and he's right, it is loose. As I understand it Jim really ran it out up higher (and I saw him run it out near the top of the first pitch). I was flattered that he named it for me!
-
DES, that last post was me, but the registration feature didn't post my name. Do I have to remember to type my name in every time? Also, the "little bells" aren't orange when there is a message I haven't read. Not to complain, I couldn't run one of these sites myself; but I did wnat to point up what seems to be user unfriendliness as a means of constructive criticism.
-
Okay, now I am really confused, Machete or Monolith? Originally I thought we were talking about Machete.
-
Brad, if you check the box that says "Log me on automatically each visit: " when you log in and then don't delete any cookies, it should work for you.
-
allow me to say it, just cuz he's a friend an all...
NOOB
 :D
-
Crap, Jody, it's Machete, not Monolith. Long day at work and all. Substitiute words and all the rest fits. And as for you young Mr. B, I'm going to teach you to wargame. Then it';\ll be easy to alter history.
-
i have sinking suspicion the allies may have lost if I wargamed it. ;)
