Title: 4th of July Plans?

What's everyone up 2?  Staying home, fighting the crowds?

Looks like we are going to head up 395 and try and get lucky with a FCFS higher altitude campsite.  If that fails, maybe roast away at Tuttle Creek.

Screw around the kids in the mtns, maybe hang out in Indepenence on the 4th.. lots of stuff for the kids to do there.

staying in Bridgeport area, but will likely run down to Mammoth at least one of those days.

We've been gone two weekends in a row doing long drives, so it'll be nice to stay local and avoid the traffic this holiday weekend. I mentioned our plan in the 2008 Quotes thread. Re-posting it here since it's relevant.

- What are we doing this July 4th weekend?
- Oh, I don't know... Haven't thought about it.
- How about we climb at Pinnacles Friday, camp at Coe, and ride at Coe the next day?
- Ohhhh... Pinnacles, Coe, camping... are you trying to talk dirty to me?  :ihih:

It looks like all campgrounds are full, so we might have to come home for the night.

Meadows is the place for the 4th. I'll be there in spirit.

We'll be around if you want to BBQ in LaHonda. Are they having a 4th celebration?

yeah i thought about the meadows, but thats one LONG drive from San Diego.  plus i near skeets are fierce and the kids wont like that.

Kelly and I going to Tahoe - it's her birthday weekend (she's turning the big 3-0). On Friday, we're going to ride our mtn bikes - maybe take a lift up and do an easy downhill run. Staying at the Plumpjack in Squaw Valley, watching fireworks over the lake Friday night. Doing a casual Truckee River raft on Saturday and maybe more biking. Head back Saturday night. Probably working Sunday...but may get a ride or run in that day.

I think I am going to ride to Folsom for my friend Doug's barbeque on Friday. Then I will ride home on Saturday in time for my friend Jean's barbeque...  :)
