Title: Hey, La Honda
Post by: Brad Young on December 15, 2008, 08:10:04 AM
Coming home last night we hit snow at Jamestown. (It was sticking up higher.) We've got 8 inches here now and still falling. Did you get any up there?

(Crap, I just remembered, I haven't gotten the snow blower out and oiled and fueled for the season yet. Too busy cleaning topos and I clean forgot.)

When are you down again? Check your trunk...there's an extra rack back there.

Yeah, and a chalkbag. Down again when the weather is better, or December 26th, whichever is sooner?

I was just up at Castle. First snow was at around 2200 feet on Highway 9 and about the same on Bear Creek Road. Good times... Cold up there!  ;)

We're all home now. The driveway is cleared, we've got over a foot now and it's still falling. But dinner is in the oven, I'm about to crack open a bottle of red, and both fires are going. Peace.

I should at least post a picture with some snow in it...

Someone knocked on the door at 8:30pm tonight. It was our next door down the road (but uphill side) neighbor, Laura. She could not get her Porsche up to their house -- the last 50 feet or so was just too steep, so she parked it on our drive way. Here is the reason:

I wonder if it is going to melt by tomorrow morning, or we'll have to work from home.

That was amusing.  I thought it was just raining real hard.  It was a bit worse out in the street since it is not sheltered by the trees.

I thought both of your vehicles were 4wd?

Bag work and spend the day at AppleJacks next to the fire.

The roads were just wet this morning, I guess last night Skyline and 84 was covered in hail and ice.  There was a fair amount of snow further up on the hill (South Skyline).  The elevation is higher down South.

La Honda is only about 400' above sea level.  84 and Skyline are about 1,200'.

Here's a sample of what it looked like near Castle Rock today (Sunnyvale Mountain trailhead, Sanborn-Skyline County Park)...
