Title: La Bamba
Post by: mynameismud on December 30, 2008, 01:09:04 PM
For those of you that are fans of La Bamba it turns out that they have opened a second location in Mountain View.  It is located on Castro (near central).

The menu looks the same with a few extra dishes thrown in.  It also has a full bar.

Where will the new La Costena be?

You finally noticed?

I've yet to have a burrito from their new location that lived up to the other. But they're still damned good!

Yes, that's a few block from my house. Needless to say, I'm not overly impressed with the 3 or so visits I've made there. I miss La Costena's Mole.

Ah, yes, La Costena's Chicken Mole is the best.  Had one of those burrito's the other day.

I just noticed that La Costena's second site (Camino Real) has been torn down.  It looks like that strip mall is being rebuilt.  I have no idea if Camino Real will return.

I have been surprised with the last couple of visits to La Castena.  The line went all the way out the kitchen.  Seems there for a while it was possible to just walk up and place an order.

yep...burrito real used to rock. Switched some time back to another mexican joint. Ok but not as good and no mole. The center is going through a MAJOR renovation but again, no mole.

Have you tried El Paso's super chicken burrito?  Not as good as La Castena's Mole but a darn good burrito.

Among all the eat out options for New Year's Eve, we voted for two chicken mole burritos and three chicken mole tacos from La Costena. We did have sparkling wine to go with them followed by bailey though.

I'm just picturing the restaurant down the street from Hueco Tanks. Best ostrich fajitas I've ever had!  :)

I had a damned good burrito at Super Taqueria (SJSU location) yesterday afternoon... And now I'm bringing dead threads back to life.

oh boy....here comes the love of ST from Munge and the fear from Mr. Mud....Food is good, bathroom is bad. PS, I lived walking distance from that ST on Williams for years. I've eaten my share.

They did remodel the place a year or two ago. Is the bathroom as bad as it was before?

Beyond nasty.  That place would not pass the test in a 3rd world country.

Cannot see going to ST with the plethora of good burrito joints in the Bay Area.

yeah, I'm not denying that there are plenty of better joints. I actually would take Chipotle.....and with the new iPhone App done deal.

Speaking of good joints, in Manteca a few weeks ago I skipped the Agave (not a fan), passed up Chipotle and went into La Esmeralda. That place ROCKS! Great stop on the way home from the mountains. Fewer posers than the others too and very authentic.

Was that Robertos in Mammoth?? I loved that place. Nothing like a huge fried borrito and a tall pitcher of margaritas.....mmmm.

Robertos? Man I was never impressed with that place.....I got nacho's there last summer and I could have done better. I judge all restaurants by their nachos. Speaking of which, Tied House Black Bean Chicken Nacho's...ROC

I had a La Bamba burrito last night before the concert. Excellent as always! Al pastor super burrito.

The good news for La Bamba fans... Apparently if you"friend" them on Facebook you get a free burrito. Joan said there was a sign saying that in the restaurant.
