once i figure out how to slide ill have more cajones bombing the hills. jumping off at 20mph has proven to be ineffective and slightly painfull.
-
got attacked by dogs last night on the way to a poker game. they were fast, able to catch me and bite my legs while i was going about 14ish mph.
wish there was video cause i completely SNAPPED. i wanted blood but the dogs were pussies and ran back to there owner.
got smoked in poker.

Wrist guards! Gotta have them. Knee pads are nice too. Both make bailing tolerable.
I used to live at the bottom of a STEEP hill and skated to and from school. I can still remember doing a 4 wheel slide to break. I was like, what did I just do? And that was cool. I got pretty good cuz I had actually 1 downhill going to school and 2 coming home.
-
yeah i did a small slide yesterday and hit something (?) went flying but was able to control it. strained my quad.
what a difference some wind makes. i was able to redpoint two hills from the top yesterday, even just getting into a tuck halfway down and bombing.
new distance record on my house's main hill. slight updraft slowed me a ton, so i was able to cruise it from just about 20 yards below my house.
19mph top speed yesterday.
-
Sweet
-
new speed record tonight... 20.2.
felt some real skater discrimination tonight as well. hung around that house as long as possible after the son of a bitch staired me down from his driveway (never even came close to touching his property). less than .25 miles from my own house.. wtf.
think i should hit the sack so i can get up and run in the am, but really want to head out and practice some more. super stoked on skateboarding. lots o lots o fun!!!

live to ride another day!
vid please.
-
21 mph tonight.
-
would that amount to what is technically called...
BOMBING down the hill?
i fuggin think sooo
-
bombed the bottem 3/4. carved a few turns at the top. still a little chickenyouknowwhat.
-
Will an umbrella work as a brake?
-
not a bad idea, but super gay!!!
-
should be getting a board friday, time to stop mooching.
-
Well then, what about a cape? Like Batman!
That will really get your neighbors attention.
-
how about naked, with a cape, and an umbrella draped over my shoulder.
going to get a new board at lunch today..stoked..
-
Ya, Baby. Hmm this skateboarding thing is begining to sound fun.
:ciappa:
-
sweet, i went to the mfg shop and put one together right there for me. gravity 47 inch hyper carve. super rad discount and lots of schwag. time to break some bones tonight.

Whoa, cool.
-
cruised my hill without bailing today. slightly wet roads, but i was carving hard and kept the speed down. head wind helped too.
-
bearings got f'd from riding in the rain. 6 bucks for 8 new ones from gravity and shes rolling smooth again. might break out the video today.
thinging about getting a short board and building a half pipe in the back yard. tear down the climbing wall in the garage for part of the lumber.
sick!

It is a cold hard crual world.
-
right now its a cruel wet world. thinking about 60 more minutes of sunshine will do the trick.
-
Following the link. I like the board with the whipped cream chick on it. My Mom had that album!
-
YEAH!
Crushed my speed record! Topped 30mph tonight and never felt even slightly out of control. Sooooo fun!
-
Woot
-
check this one out
&NR=1
-
can't do it. hurts too much to watch.
-
Katie and I started watching it too, and stopped. It hurts too much to watch.
-
sorry, i should have prefaced with extreme falls or something... those guys are nuts!
-
Hahaha... It's not just us. A few seconds into it, Mud said something like "I don't need to [or want to?] see this" and we closed it. I can't believe salad posted the video and he is the one who does skateboarding.
-
again sorry, it didnt really affect my that way. since there wasnt much that was really graphic (other than hard falls) i didnt even think of giving you all a warning.
when i watched it, my thoughts were more about the commitment it takes to do all of those crazy stunts... i think its just a part of skateboarding at that level.
-
No real preface needed. I thought the video was of you. I have watched a bunch of those. That one looked good. I just cannot help but sitting there cringing waiting for the inevitable nut shot some guy takes when sliding down a rail. Oh man those look bad. Can't watch any more of those. Ankles and wrists do not bother me. butt those nut shots..... urgh
-
it's the head landings that do it for me. no warning needed Sal. Just not something I enjoy watching that much. no big.
total commitment, but easy injury. Look how many times we've seen S. Ryan out of commish because of skating.
"Keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times."
-
thats because sean is a kook who cant skate >:D
-
hah
we almost got that guy over to Uber's for beers.
-
found a super sweet link up last night in the hood. three different streets, each a really cool downhill. will take a while before i can skate them all linked without stopping.
skated haaaaard last night. getting the slide down better. had my first car incident too.. was bombing the hill my house is on faster than i ever have, turned hard right at the bottom into headlights of an on coming car that was on my side of the road. not really all that close of a call, but had to make a quick adjustment at high speed. most certainly got some stoke out of that!
-
so i skated the three street link up last night with out falling or stopping. super fun. my quads were BURNING at the bottom. got a new style of riding down crouched super low on the board so i can grab the rails and get better slides to control my speed. i think that technique will come in handy for getting down some super steep hills.
it would be cool to do the link up with a little more grace and style and less work, but for now it just feels like im going way to fast to not be in the crouch and aggressively working the slides.
-
108 that's all I'm saying.

Bohlman Rd.

last week i managed to get my friend who owns gravity to come over and skate in my hood. it turned into a full on garage days revisted as the neighborhood kids saw the company truck and came over, and called some friends, who came over and called more friends.
i skated some insane (for me) hills that i would not even think about getting on. i crashed my way down them but it was still fun. hit the giant 1 mile hill that i had never done before, no crashes, no stops.
we went from 6pm until 1am, with stops back at the garage for a cold one and some bouldering. highlight had to be when we all went out together (at that point 8 or 10 of us) and full on mobbed the neighborhood hills.
bream brought over some prototypes of some sick new boards they are coming out with, bamboo and maple. looks like ill have to get another one.
-
I shall call him wheelie Sal.

perfect
-
rad. my left front wheel came off while down hilling tonight. luckily at the top of a hill. unfortunately it was while carving left so i came down hard on my already messed up left hand. xrays might be called for.
-
I shall call him biffed but good busted up left hand sal.
ice ice, or a cold pale ale against it. works for knees.
-
heal up well ya crazy bastard.
-
i took the board into the shop today. Bream took a close look at the wheel and noticed the casing for the bearing was still in it. verdict is i blew the bearing which caused the truck to hit the ground and spin the nut off allowing the wheel to come off.
he taught me a little more about about what to look for when the bearings are going bad.
falling isnt good, but i got kudus for skating enough in a short period of time to blow out my bearing. extra kudus because my wheels are coning nicely.
-
I think we're losing the patient doc. Isn't there anything we can do to save him from coning his wheels? Once down that path, he won't be able to come back.
;D
-
Yeah, he may be a goner. At least he did not become a sport climber.
