Title: Cal International Marathon
Post by: F'ueco on March 17, 2009, 11:58:44 AM
Who's up for it? It's December 6 and goes from Folsom to Sacramento. Should be fun, eh? Net downhill too!

I'm thinking about it as a good way to segue into the cycling offseason. Of course, I'm doing a half-Ironman triathlon a month before, so I should be okay on the running by then.  ;)

I walked around the neighborhood last night. I'm in prime shape!

It seems net uphill would be easier on the knees and allows for good excuse for a slow time.

I figure there's no way I won't beat my marathon PR since it's 6:08...  ;)

But the downhill is only 300 feet or so over 26.2 miles. Shouldn't be too hard the old knees, eh?

Done it in '93. I think I was 3:03.

Yah, the course is pretty easy. The only variable is the weather.

It will not be to hard on my knees if you have a wheelbarrow.

I might do it with the wife.  She just did her 1st 1/2 Mary (Shamrockn Roll) and I am trying to convince her that now is the best time since she already has half the required base! heheh I am not sure if she is buying it though :)

I did CIM in 2003 for my 1st Mary.  I agree that it is a great course.  Even if the Mrs doesn't do it, I might since I will be training for the AR50 in spring 2010 and either Western States or Angeles Crest in the summer.  Obviously hoping for WS but if I don't get in via the lottery or working my contacts, I'll probably do AC.
