You all are invited to come on down to Pinnacles and roll in the mud with Mr. Mud on Saturday, Feb 27, 2010. Let's do it before he gets too old for it. Yep, Feb 28 is his birthday.
The exact spot for the group roll is open for discussions depending on who is coming.
Who is in?
-
coveted 2nd ascent of Big Bird and Old E?
-
sounds like good fun. I'd be there in a heartbeat if I were in town. have an extra brew for me. here's to ...
-
Mudworm needs the extra belay slaves.
-
Given he's getting older and not younger, we should just go to the tourist trap. Short approach, easy climbs....
-
Crap, I'd love to make it. But the girls have a climbing comp that day, in Sacramento. As it is I'll be driving all Friday night to get home for that.
-
Sounds like FUN, I'm really itching to get to the Valley though. Move it East!
BTW, anyone want to climb up Valley?
-
How about this place as an alternative??
http://www.planetgranite.com/programs/kids/kidsparties.php (http://www.planetgranite.com/programs/kids/kidsparties.php)
we could then have a nice cake with candles.... ;D
-
Punch and pie!
-
Wish I could - flying to Colorado to see the kids...
-
Sorry, it's my dad's birthday and we've got a family event that afternoon. Have a great time!
-

Mainly I was just looking for a rope gun for the both of us. ;D
It looks like F4 and the family will be joining us, so at least we have a small group going. Whoohoo!
-
might be in. have an obligation to help jaybro with some trail work and practice some wide tho.
-
In eric's honor, should this be a mullet wig day?
-
Weather for Valley (and Pinns) is supposed to be very iffy. If its still that way I might be tagging along.
-

I'll have to ask Mr. Mud, what "mullet wig" means.
Oh, BTW, if rain prevents climbing, we'll still go for a hike at the Pinns, which I'm sure will be equally nice.

Close, but I don't see the business up front and the party in the back.
-
Yeah, dig that hat though!
-
it's going to rain.
how about sat 3/6?
-
It never rains at the Pinns.
Folks are welcome at our place saturday.....maybe hit the gym?
-
What's the deal??
Weather looks wet
-
I think some day, Mud should move his birthday to June or something, when it never rains.
Okay, the deal for Saturday is this:
A group gym session at PG SV at 3pm. Then dinner at Xanh (http://www.xanhrestaurant.com/) in downtown MV (yelp link (http://www.yelp.com/biz/xanh-restaurant-mountain-view-2)) probably around 6pm. After dinner, we'll move right over to the lounge area (in the same restaurant) and enjoy the drinks (check out their Cocktail menu). I'll make sure to buy Mr. Mud the "Dirty Old Man" .
You all are invited to join us at the gym, the dinner, and/or for the drinks; at least, come for the drinks! It's going to be wet everywhere but that lounge anyway.
If you can come for the dinner, please reply by 6pm Friday so I can make a dinner reservation.
We may still go for a hike at the Pinns in the morning even if it rains, but since it's probably just us, we'll be flexible on the plan.
-
It never rains at the Pinns.
The forecast looks promising.....
Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers. Highs in the 40s to 50s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of showers 50 percent.
Looks good to me.
-
exactly some of the best routes in the Monument have gone up in worse forecasts.

-
I think the old dog is getting soft!
There is still a 40% chance of it NOT raining.
We wouldn't be wearing shorts, but it would still be nice.
-
Cool. F4 and Munge, see you guys at the east side parking lot at 9am on Saturday!
-
grim
hrm, i'll check forecast later tonight too. maybe doppler in the morning.
-
Looks like someone tossed a gauntlet.
-
lol
-
Carpool?
-
We'll need to make a couple of (not very short) stops on the way back. Carpool probably won't work, I'm afraid.
-
It is now seriously raining.
I walked 30' outside and got soaked.
-
bring your galoshes!

Yah, scratch that idea of going down there tomorrow.
-
It started raining pretty hard in Soledad around 3:40pm.
-
Saturday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. East southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 70%.[/quote]
-
I declare the storm officially over.
Looking out over the Pacific the horizon was clear and there was little wind.
It has been written. It has been read.
-
What's the problem with some rain?
I thought this was a chance to "Roll in the mud"?
The moss slides by Triple X are always a good diversion when it rains.
-
coveted 2nd ascent of Big Bird and Old E?
Quicker With Lickher. You are such a tard.
-
The party is gone.
-
now at 50% but this is fickle. I'm staying up here tho. Maybe get some sleep tonight if I'm lucky.

mmmmmm, how I do like the drink menu at Xahn. LMG, Mr Mud got the Dirty Old Man?
Wish I could have met up, that place is 3 blocks from my house. Alas dinner plans prevailed.
-
what other good places are you holding out on squiddo?
-
Alcohol is not a performance enhancing drug. Felt sluggish on the ride today. Was fighting cramps from the beginning of the ride.
Thank you all.
-
Been beautiful here.....I went ridin' about town
Short, just 5 or 6 miles.
I have legs of Jello. arrrggh. >:(

-
I think Uber would say
1st Rule of Fight Club.
-
if it said to meet me in woodson wearing a red dress with a cat mask, it was NOT me.
-
I just had an epiphany: A picture is worth a thousand words. So forget about a longer report. Here are the pictures. But first, thanks F4 for hosting the delicious hotpot dinner and the one of a kind birthday gift! Thanks munge for coming out to share a couple of drinks with Mr. Mud. And thanks all who were thinking of him.
Oh, the funny thing was on our way home from the bar after Mr. Mud had a couple of "Dirty Old Man" drinks, the audiobook we were listening to, a World War II memoir, had this in a dialogue: "I'm not a dirty old man; I'm a sexy senior citizen." :D
Mr. Mud is not old yet. See how flexible he is in these poses?

He was not doing yoga though. He was just admiring the beauty of these early spring flowers at Pinnacles.

Mr. Mud would not have wanted to be anywhere else.

Wish you all could have been here.

the one of a kind birthday gift!
You know you forgot your gift. At your age you need to be regular...

I see what you mean about the wall of clouds. Top right corner is a great shot.

Hey, cool bunch o' photos. ;D

looks like a good time was had, as expected.
