Farside Climbing

Squiddo, Jake and I ventured to that other volcanic place near Sonara.....Table Mountain.

We went over to the Far side and had the place to ourselves. It was kinda surreal being the only ones.

The technique was so different from Pinns...big moves to good holds. And man that rock was sharp.

Although it never got over 40 degrees here at home today, The Far Side was toasty. Senior project was running water, but the rest of the area was climbable.

Still, a pretty sorry-ass consolation prize (instead of three days at Pinns).

Did you spray the PO? I can see that place getting over-run. The trail going to Ft Apache looked like it needed to be cleared.

Seems like there is still potential over there....

Looks like a great day.  I keep thinking I'll check this place out sometime .. I have the 2001 guidebook though, and most of the stuff sounds pretty hard.  Anything 5.7-ish to warm up on nearby ?

I've got all the stuff to spray with (an Ortho product that kills the P.O. at the roots for years). Lemme know when you'll be up here and ready to spray it.

Rob, the only real warmup on the Far Side is a steep 5.8, with one distinct crux and much easier climbing. The '01 book is way out of date. If you're coming up, let me get you the new book (it's done for that area).

Actually, Squiddo, he's not totally hopeless. He did a lot of cleaning up at The Eastern Front. I think Cliff kinda pushed him into it. I admit that it is a long way to come to help with maintenance, but the help would be welcome.

I'll remind Cliff of his PO spraying commitments. We were hoping the hords of people would have kept it in check.

ha, just read this. I was joking but of course you know that. Bratton is my hero...few would question that.
