Well no one took up my offer for free food and beer. I posted emails here, sent emails, and went to a dozen bike shops. I think the result was about 2 additional people at the meeting.
I think there were 10 mountain bikers and probably 40 equestrians, with an additional 10 - 20 other people. There will be one more meeting with Mountain bikers hopefully we can get a few more people to show for that one. I was a bit surprised at how well it went. I think there will be multi-use trails although the equestrians pushed hard to get the Driscole Ranch to be horse only. That might sill happen and the Driscole Ranch is more than half the park.
Going to this meeting made me realize the reason equestrians have more access to land is that they show up and they present themselves quite well. I think mtb bikers must out number equestrian at least 10 to one, yet at the public meetings it seems the other way around. If the Open Space was not right next to a small community I doubt there would have been more the 2 or 3 people there. A ROMP representative was there but he may as well have been invisible.
