« on: November 14, 2006, 02:05:20 PM »
La Honda Open Space is having a meeting this Thursday at 6:30 pm.  If there are any Mountain Bikers out there please show up.  This is the last input.  The Horse people have already showed in force so yes of course horses will be allowed.  Please set aside some time for this.

Thank you

P.S. Mudworm has offered a free meal to anyone that shows.  I will buy the beer of your choice if you show.

Problem for me - I'm the only one on my team handling stuff at work today. Getting out early enough to get there is going to be next to impossible.

Well no one took up my offer for free food and beer.  I posted emails here, sent emails, and went to a dozen bike shops.  I think the result was about 2 additional people at the meeting.

I think there were 10 mountain bikers and probably 40 equestrians, with an additional 10 - 20 other people.  There will be one more meeting with Mountain bikers hopefully we can get a few more people to show for that one.  I was a bit surprised at how well it went.  I think there will be multi-use trails although the equestrians pushed hard to get the Driscole Ranch to be horse only.  That might sill happen and the Driscole Ranch is more than half the park.

Going to this meeting made me realize the reason equestrians have more access to land is that they show up and they present themselves quite well.  I think mtb bikers must out number equestrian at least 10 to one, yet at the public meetings it seems the other way around.  If the Open Space was not right next to a small community I doubt there would have been more the 2 or 3 people there.  A ROMP representative was there but he may as well have been invisible.

Do most other mountain bikers have to show up for work early in the morning? The only reason I can never attend these is that I have to be asleep early enough to get up at 5:00...

I'm still amazed that people actually believe that thousand pound animals that shit all over the place do less damage than mountain bikers...

A trail could be developed through Sierra Azul to be able to ride from Lexington to Demo Forest.
