Boy, aren't you an optimist! I lightly studied the # to print and got some advice from other book publishers too. I printed just over 4500 copies, and while it's been selling well, I've still got a huge number in the garage. In my mind I've never thought there would be any second printing at all. Much less fairly quickly.
ALSO: next weekend and through about the end of April SD and I are beginnning to assemble the SPH 2nd edition. This is a crucial time period because what we do by way of formatting and setup will set the pattern for the whole book. Starting with the Burst Rock area (it's first in the High County section and I don't have the Low County raw materials ready for assembly yet). Physically the book will be the same size and materials as the Pinnsguide, but with a differrnet color cover. Also, we're not going with route numbers, but will use letters for the routes on each topo (as with, for example, the Yosemite Valley guide). I would value input on formating from anyone who posts on this site. Contact me, stop by. Plan on spending an hour our two looking it over and giving your thoughts. For those of you in the Bay Area, let me know if you won't make it up and we can arrange for a review somehow. Too many cooks spoil the broth, etc, but I've found that consencus is often remarkably easy on a lot of these set up issues.
