williamson on 7/12?
« on: July 07, 2008, 12:05:10 PM »
anyone interested in williamson this saturday?  last 'legal weekend before the closure takes effect.

was thinking of the 3rd class west face, but would consider a suffer fest up the northeast ridge or the long twisting rib.

step up....

edit:  ne ridge:

Heading in to the Thumb, so I can't. I've done the West Face and the North Arete (aka the Long and Twisting Rib). If you don't do the NE ridge, count me in for a different year - they say it's one of the very longest climbs in the Sierra, and the one with the most elevation gain. I'd love to suffer up it.

Ditto for next year. Might even motivate me to train. Such a novel idea.

Was that the once Harding did in the winter? Best quote "It was a good thing hypothermia wasn't invented back then" and then there's the big rabbit they kept seeing.

well the knee isnt hurting now so i may still go up.  was also thinking about helping with the search for the missing climber on goode, but SAR wont take 'civilian' volunteers.

kinda feeling lazy though.  williamson is a big day and when the knee started hurting i started losing motivation.  i guess i could play it safe and stay off the knee this weekend and illegally climb willie later in the summer.  i disagree with the closer anyway.

not to mention my brakes are metal on metal.  i started to change them last night but they gave me front pads instead of rear pads and they dont fit.  so now the rig is up on jacks and im going to a benefit for an injured local climber tonight.  excuses excuses.

Uber and I are going riding tonight in 90 degree temps.  Not exactly Mudworm caliber, but heh, we can't all be superstars.
