Am I the only one found it disturbing? (so far, work safe)
« on: April 19, 2006, 10:11:14 AM »
Or, is that because I'm the only woman registered here?

Ok, it's not that I consider it sinful for someone to like that picture (besides, Mr Mud, officially ordained, can always pray for your soul). I'm just wondering about the truth. Maybe you are just as disturbed as I am, but you are afraid of admitting it because you are trapped in the idea that normal guys are EXPECTED to enjoy viewing any beautiful woman naked (in pictures or live).  But to be honest, I don't think I'll enjoy a frontal exposure of a nude stud who is not my man.  Does that make me a lesbian?

Not that I'm calling for censorship or anything

Sorry if I offended you, mudworm (or any other women unfortunate enough to be wasting their time on this forum). Was trying to be funny by playing off the nudi/nudie thing. Some of us landlubbers don't even know what a "nudi" is and I was getting upset that a perfectly good thread about stupid, sophmoric, and indignant behavior was going off on an interesting and intelligent diving tangent.

The only porn I will post from now on will be pictures of the group meow session.

Oh, Uber, no need to appologize.  I was not offended at all (it takes a lot more than that).

It's just that when I saw it, I got that "eeeeewww" feeling.  I wanted to know if it's just me or ...  But then, I also realize that I'll probably never get an answer here. After all, I'm asking the question to a bunch of guys who spend their time on a mud forum (aka hardcore guys).

mudworm,

naked female pics are not always seen as offensive. Typically it has to do with one's upbringing.  if someone grew up with a social training that was staunchly religious, then the mere viewing of the image would be offensive.

typically also it's not the female form that may be seen as offensive but more the context into which the feminine form is placed.  this is probably true for most people. this though, is a continuum of perception as to what ranges from mere 'nudity' to 'hard core porn.'

there is something to be said about how contemporary society has commodified and sexualized the feminine form. To that extent though, i'm more "disturbed" by mass media depictions that are so prevalent as to create a normalizing effect of how women should be, and moreoever how they should "be sexy" as a form of social control and directed energies of the populace.

so I appreciate the occasional nude female online, but don't feel trapped by any stereotype to 'enjoy' it, i just do and that's my intentional state.  but as there is a continuum, there is a point at which I too, go "eeewwww".

And in fact, can be repulsed. e.g group meow pics.

Wow, what a philosophical discourse. I only read the articles, never look at the pictures.

Mr Mud, are you going to bless Mungie's and Ubber's excellent adventure? I think the'll need all the help they can get.
I'm not worthy.

Munge, thanks for sharing your insights.

Actually, the question came up when I frequented SuperTopo Forum, where every now and then, a picture would pop up on my screen that I wished I had shut my eye close before seeing it -- that "eeewww" reaction.  Some of those pictures were of naked females, and others were of bleeding body parts.  To me, it was never offensive simply because you were not supposed to take it personally.  But I just didn't understand how everyone else could stand those images.

This forum just gives me a chance to ask the question since I know many people here.

I guess what it comes down to is our "eeewww" threshold.  Mine happens to be very low.  Oh well, I will just be like Factor4 -- only read the articles and never look at the pictures.

I only went eewwww when I looked at her face.  The body was not to bad but she ruined her face with all the paint.  I suppose the pose could have been a bit better.

Oh quit it. Let's not get into a technical discussion of poses, ok?
