I didn't grow up in Tuolumne, I grew up in San Jose. When I was 16 my mom and dad decided to move here, to "the country," for the good life. I was not consulted. I was also not pleased; I had to leave behind all my friends and all of my interests.
I started high school at Summerville Union High School just outside of a small township up here called Tuolumne City. I was still really pissed to have been moved up here. By the time I was a junior at that school I'd made the adjustments necessary and I loved it. I really thrived too, lettering in two varsity sports and in academics.
After I went away to college, law school and a career I jumped at the chance to move back up here in 1993. Vicki and I had kids and now one of them is nearly grown up. She too seems to like Summerville and has lettered in sports and academics. Like me, Katie got her letterman jacket (letterwoman jacket? letterperson jacket?). Mine still fits me too.
