tube or tubeless?

Thinking about getting tubeless option for my new wheelset. Are there any major disadvantages with going tubeless?

Now, I'm curious. Have roadies adopted tubeless yet?

I not sold on them yet, but Jeff is a big fan.   My new wheel set that I am going to get built is going to have UST rims, but I am going to run tubes for now.  This way it will give me a option to run tubeless later.  The wheels will be a little heavier, but not that much.

Yeah I'm will Delbomber here. I just replaced my last wheel set (on my XC rig) and went with tubed. It's always a tossup for me.....mine is lighter but it need not be that way. I do go with something that is familiar, reliable and I trust.

The riders I've seen who have converted end up carrying a tube on the trail. If the bead goes then it's supposed to be difficult to set again without a compressor. I just hate fussing with something in the middle of a ride.

You can always get a UST rim on the built and run the tube as suggested.

Roadies haven't gone tubeless yet because they haven't been able to get the pressure high enough, until now. There is a move now to get the pros to adopt it; but they are pretty resistant to change... At any rate, there wouldn't be an advantage running tubeless instead of tubulars...

I like tubeless for 3 main reasons: 1. you can run a lower presssure without the risk of pinch flats. 2. with a sealant system in the tire, you have virtually eliminated flats 3. you can use a tubed tire if you want allowing you to use any type of tire (sale items).

I currently am running tubed as the panaracer cinder is not offered in UST.....althought I have ordered a fresh set of panaracer fire xc pro UST tire for Downieville.
