I had committed Mr Mud and myself to a bike ride with Elaine and her Ironman team today. The ride was the Fairfax/Mt Tam Loop (31.8 miles and 2400 ft of climbing). However, the weather did not look promising this morning, but it did not look bad enough to justice bailing either. We got to Fairfax at 9am. The ground was wet, but it was only drizzling. There were probably about a dozen people in total (half of her team did not show up). The first 10 miles or so were quite nice because it was refreshing (still drizzling) but the mellow uphill climbs (rolling) kept us warm. Once we got over to the coastal size, rain and side wind soon drenched us. And it was downhill for quite a while. Fingers and toes felt numb. We did wear layers and arm/leg warmers this time (a big step up from last weekend, but still whenever we stopped to wait, everyone shivered uncontrollably. Although the group broke up into a few smaller groups, riding knowing there are other people with you somewhere nearby added a lot of fun factor.
The ride is supposed to be very scenic. Some day we have to return on a nice day.
