I'll post the link to the pictures and the race report once those are done (I'm working on the photos and Joan is working on the race report). But the race is history, and Joan finished 5th overall (1 minute behind 4th, who got lost. He was fortunate that Joan caught up and rode the rest of the way in with him! She let him finish first since he had been 20 minutes ahead of her at the last time station...

Bottom line. Joan is now qualified to race RAAM if she so chooses through 2012. And she is officially the course record holder for solo women (Janet Christiansen did it 21 minutes faster in 2007; but she was in the voyager division. I'd say that finishing a 519 mile race 21 minutes slower than a woman who (this year) has finished RAAM is pretty damned good! Joan's time was 44:58 (yes, that's 2:42 faster than my time last year. Conditions were considerably better for most of the race this year!).
