Where the Wild Things Are

neat, as a reflection of Sendak's work, but it could have been better.

Hmmm... Can't wait to ask Mud how it was climbing at the Pinns. I was just cleaning the house and guess what I found -- his ATC!
Inch by inch, I will get there.

Yeah, we worked around the missing ATC. Nice day. We saw no sign of any other climbers there at all.

had a group of 9 out there today and ran into another dozen or so friends and never left discovery wall.  unfortunately we only had about 13 beers in the car.  there is suffering everywhere.
good times and sunshine.  maybe the weather is finally turning.

Met Brad and Phil at West Side parking lot at around 8:45.  Just a tad late.

We went over to a secret project/new discovery that Brad found 2 years ago.

Brad lead the newly discovered old route first.  Then myself and Phil.  Phil in the best style, in that he looked calm and smooth.

We then climbed a route that was probably started at the same time but not finished.   I lead then Brad then Phil wisely did it on TR.  New route is 5.8 R.  Ledge potential above marginal cams.

Weather was nice and there were no other climbers on the West Side in site.

I realized I did not have a belay device after I topped out the first time.

Before anyone starts drooling, the "found" and "just-established" routes are on a feature called "The Jungle Slab." That ought to well describe the high quality of the day's climbing. Still, always a fun adventure with Mr Mud. Phil replaced a sketchy looking old bolt that I'd led well above two years ago (before wisely retreating). After he replaced it he took the old one out with one hit to the hanger (to position it) and one pry with the pick. An eye opener for him. I'll post descriptions of these routes on the new-routes page after my secretary types up my notes.
