Not sure I understand what the question was, and this sentence, "I switched my browser to prompt for cookies." Enlighten me.
Inch by inch, I will get there.

my statements may have been out of order...

I switched my browser to prompt for cookies...

internet options>privacy tab>advanced button> select 'prompt'

after you do this, go to a fresh instance of mudncrud.com forum directly.

when I did this, the statcounter cookie will display.

sounds like it may not be intentional, or maybe it's coming thru someone's embedded image somewhere. unfortunatley I don't recall which page I hit first.  let me know if you can repro...

maybe, if I keep editing HD video.

I think maybe it's someone's image for their avatar.

Hi Munge, Ah, I see what you are saying. I thought you used statcounter (or used to? I forgot), so it confused me when you said the cookie prompt shows up when you load mudncrud, but not your site. Anyhow, yes, I use statcounter to track the stats of all the domains. All you need to do is allow cookies from this domain. Well, that is, if you trust us. Most sites these days use cookies. You are gonna get a lot of prompts. Mr. Mud does. I've found it ruins the surfing experience.

it does ruin it a lot to prompt, but with privacy being being the house that is being torn down to build the security fence, I'm trying it out again.

thx for the insight. hey, where is your privacy statement?  ;)

I have done "prompt for cookies" since the feature was available in Netscape.  My old boss a bit of a security hobbyist and a true UNIX Guru stressed using this feature at all times.

He actually used a text browser most of the time until the company made it impossible to use one for security reasons.  At that time they switched us to IE, which I find rather amusing.  We immediately downloaded Netscape and later FireFox.

I you really want to be secure and have a bit of privacy I still recommend a text based web browser.

Munge, why do you want to be secure? Are you downloading porn at 2am?
