Need climbing lesson for teen July 24 or 25

Hello,
Spending Sat. July 24 at Pinnacles Campground. 

Does any climber want to give my 17-year-old boy a lesson in climbing?  We don't have gear.  Will be heading to Kings Canyon & Yosemite later in this trip.  Would love to spark a rock climbing bug in my son so he can take advantage of these climbing opportunities.

Betsey, It's great that your son got a cool parent like you and you get to explore the outdoors together. I may be speaking too soon, but I doubt anyone who frequents this site is certified to teach. Your best bet would probably be Yosemite Mountaineering School. If you click on the link, you can see the top link on that page is:

Or try Outback Adventures for a local service. I think they do Castle Rock trips.

I learned from someone that wasn't certified. 

But with that said, you need a permit for teaching in a Nat Park.

End of July it will be hot down there.  The climbing scene at the Pinnacles is fairly dormant in the middle of the summer.  Hope it works out for you.  If you have a harness and stuff you may want to hike up to the Monolith and see if you can get a tr from someone.  People will be hiding in the shade so will most likely be out in the morning or evening.
