Um... we plan on going to the Pinns on Saturday, March 3.
« on: February 24, 2012, 05:37:40 PM »
Mr. Mud has been crazy busy with work (in prep for a campus move). He can't even take a day off this weekend. I'm putting pressure on him to take a day off next weekend (with b-day in the next week). Hopefully the public commitment will help too.

We have plans on the morning, but will get to the Pinns before noon. If anyone else can come hang out, that'll be awesome. Will probably stop for dinner at that Mexican place (before Paicines by a gas station).
Inch by inch, I will get there.

Tricia's climbing team has it's finals that day at Pacific Edge in Santa Cruz (and we've got reservations to stay that night at the hotel de Joe'spad, which we're looking forward to).

And happy this-coming-Tuesday birthday old man.

Name it, we'll be there.  Would love to meet some of you (and help Jack be less work and more play so we don't go the fate of Scat Man)!

Awesome, guys and gals! Thanks for helping put the social pressure on Mr. Mud. :) We'll commit to Saturday then.

As I mentioned, we've discovered a Mexican place (Munge, Super Tadqueria is not Mexican) not far out of Pinnacles.  I believe it's the one in this blog post although the name doesn't ring a bell. Anyway, it's to the right of the first gas station (in Tres Pinos) you come to after leaving Pinnacles. They open until 8pm (everyday except Monday). It should make a great place to hang out.

There might be a little precipitation early this week, but Thursday through Saturday are clear. I'm looking forward to the visit and meeting everyone. We'll arrive a bit late, but before noon, and will be headed to the Bear Gulch area when we get there. If you haven't met us, please feel free to call out when you see a grumpy looking bearded old man and an Asian chick walk by.  :D
Inch by inch, I will get there.

in addition to forgetting my pack with harness, belay device, chalk, etc yesterday, I forgot to check my gas gauge on the way down and discovered in fact that the first gas station after leaving the Pinnacles is in Paicines, not Tres Pinos...
have fun on Saturday,
grumpy even on his birthday week?

Thanks Joe for pointing that out. We discovered that restaurant in Tres Pinos when Mr. Mud was running on a near empty gas tank. Not sure why we didn't get gas in Paicines that day though. Can't remember. For others, Tres Pinos is about 5.2 miles after Paicines (from Pinnacles).
Have fun on Saturday with the Young Family. We'll miss you all.

Why not stop at the Safeway in Hollister to gas up..it's the cheapest gas. Unless you drive a TDI and get superior gas mileage. Even then I still stop to gas up.

Please say hello to our little group if/when you pass by.  We'll be getting there about 9:00 and would love to put some faces to names.

Soaking up some early sun at Tourist Trap, then slipping down Back Door followed by some Upper Crust.  Maybe a Sister or two for good measure.

Have fun!

What a gorgeous day at the Pinns!  Perfect temp. Thanks F4 and family for coming out. Cruxluv, sorry we missed you. We asked a group at Tourist Trap if they had a Cruxluv, and got some weird looks, so we stopped asking after that.

Wet Kiss, Big Pucker, Verdict, and Broken Arrow (all TR for us Muds). Mr Mud got it all clean. Not bad for an old man, right off the couch too.

That was after an awesome 20 mile ride at Henry Coe.

Inch by inch, I will get there.
