the only color i saw this weekend was the green of all the poison oak creeping on to the trails at Pinns and some bright yellow lichen at the top of Photographer's Delight!

oh man, you're right about the PO.

maybe it's my focus on it, but it seems more wet and evil this year than previous years.

i'm totally focused on it too and it's like evil fingers reaching out to getcha! we were on Juniper Canyon and there were a few spots that may be hard to squeeze through if it keeps creeping out. all that water few weeks ago made it come alive - all the creek crossings were dry Saturday where they had been flowing nicely the weekend before the rendezvous.

Mungie, try eating the leaves for immunity, then report findings.

You're my second surely reliable source for that tip.  AND you're in the interweb so it must be true!

I know you were smiling when you said that, but there actually are at least two ways to gain resistance to poison oak by ingesting it, or at least coming close to ingesting it (eating the damn stuff isn't one of the ways). The Miwuk Indians used to make a very (very) weak tea of it and apparently gained resistance that way. Another classic method is to drink the milk from goats who eat poison oak.

Or you could just gain resistance the way I did: get awful, terrible cases of it over the years until it gradually doesn't affect you so much.

mudworm bought a homeopathic solution. You put two drops in a cup of tea.  Slowly increase the dosage.  It is supposed to be diluted PO oil.

I haven't started the solution yet. I should though 'cuz I'm desperate. Been careful over the weekend, but still itchy everywhere, including you know what.  Friend took this photo of us during Sunday's trailwork showing our "best sides."
Inch by inch, I will get there.

Guilty.

Luckily it was putting up bridges not bushwhacking, so I'm itch free at the moment.

Oh, you are so sweet. I'm itchy in you know what was a play in response to F4's comment earlier. I do get really bad reaction to bug bites and PO though, but I'm a lot more careful now after a miserable breakout from a Brown Recluse Spider bite and PO from the same trailwork day (links lead to photos).
