Mondays on meds
« on: February 04, 2013, 02:18:57 PM »
My thumb had an ecounter with a screw gun over the weekend.  The thumb was bothering me a fair bit today so I got some meds from the Doc, (he bandaged it on Saturday).  Now I am somewhat numb.  I think this is a good way to work on Mondays.

Hope your thumb is okay Mud.

I'm down with a strange influenza or some kind of creepin' crud virus - head/sinus, throat, lungs and no digestive issues unless I enter some knew as yet undiscovered phase - weekend was the worst...fever of 102 Sat night - I'm a little better today but definitely no work...hoping to feel human in the next couple days. What I typically term the sealosaurus cough will probably linger. Doc says there are many people funneling through right now. Hope none of you catch this! Can't remember ever coughing so hard! Thank goodness that phase has calmed down (knock on wood).

Maybe this will pre-disaster me for the rendezvous unlike last year!

no left hand thumberclings for a few weeks.

Hold screw in left hand, push the impact driver really hard against said screw since old wood is hard.  Slip and drive phillips drive head through edge of thumb leaving a 1 cm split in side of thumb.  that is the repro.

Oh, and curse once fairly loud then demand a paper towel so you can get to the bathroom without getting blood on the new hardwood floors.

broke down and had a beer mid afternoon to numb the pain.  Had ice cream yesterday just cuz.

@JC W KC (I still have not figured out who is who:)  )

I had that a while back.  Thankfully for me it was went through in about 3 days.  Then just had to deal with the lingering cough for a few weeks.  Get well soon, I would rather deal with the buggered thumb.

I am not to much of a fan when stuff is stuck through finger nails.  When I hit the end of my finger with the hedge clippers the doc ran the sutures right though the nail.  Jeepers that hurt.

This is Support Desk responding to your earlier inquiry.

We've deemed this operator error, and accordingly will not be willing to try a repro.

Thank you for your inquiry.

We'll be sending you an survey to see how well we've helped you today.

Ouch!

I also did the hedge trimmer to finger thing a few years back. My fingertip was tender for many months afterwards.

Posts are nearly always JC. KC tends to be a lurker and may have been typhoid Mary for the current illness. She took the flu shot. I quit taking it decades ago when I had a weird reaction - although the doc said if you get that particular flu it might land you in the hospital or at least the ER. She's got the cough but no fever and already back at work. Good for her - CRUD for me!

In your finger nail?

yes, three sutures through the finger nail.  I think the guy justed wanted to see me squirm.  Never had someone yank sutures so tight.  Then I had to go back and have them yanked out.  That was no good.

finger tips and hedge clippers should not mix.  Did not really want to take the glove off and look.  Girl friend at the time was not happy cuz we were just going to do some quick work then go to Monterey.

yes, you were spot on, skipping Saturday would been good.  On the bright side the last of the drywall is patched.  Now all I have to do is finish the mudding.

Look, I know your Pinns climbing has slowed down a bit, but you're now seriously thinking it's near its end?   :D
