Larry A. is featured. But I haven't heard about this event. Has anyone else?

I was told, but I'm in trial on Monday (it's on this coming Monday) and so I can't make it.

So, why do it on the middle of a weekday?

was it a personal invite email or was there a newsletter that went out that I'm not subscribed to?

DES and I got drafted onto the the Board of Directors for FoP about two years ago ("drafted" said slightly tongue-in-cheek; FoP is a great organization). Fellow board member Brooks sent out an email asking which of us could attend.

ah, ok. I'm getting the sense that this was a private invite dedication ceremony to prevent Park opposers from making a scene. ;)

Checked the news feed and no mention of it.

Don't be ridiculous, he'd never pass for me - he doesn't have enough grey hair.

Yes, unfortunately, this is a private invitation ceremony.  I don't know why it was planned that way, but it is.

I got an email invite from Sam Farr's office and I'm going to go.  I refuse, however, to attend the reception at the golf course in Hollister.  I may have a beer up by the reservoir.  I'll share if somebody else shows.

The little bit I've learned about "Mister" Farr leaves me utterly unimpressed. It also leaves me unsurprised that this event is "private" even though in a national park. Having the reception later at a golf course fits right in.

Joining Bob at the res for a beer would be much, much higher on the list than leaving the park for some self important stuffed-shirt's comfy little "reception."

Very inappropriate if you ask me. I would think they should celebrate the park and its user groups.  The families that hike it, the bird watchers, hikers, and of course, climbers.  A golf course is so out of place and out of the spirit of the park.

Yes, but he's a businessman.

Just goes to show how little his effort to have it designated a park actually had to do with the Pinns itself.

Which side is it on? You'd think they would have it at the Ob&m& Vistor Center given the nice view? But then to drive all the way back?

Maybe the W-Side facilites were not designed to handle such crowds?

If the E-Side, I understand why....the impact on the squirrels due to the traffic and food would be serious.

I cant believe this. A private event for a National Park.....wow perhaps now more than ever I'm saddened by the new park status.

I feel a bit slighted, usually the NP make it a big, public event.

I would have been there in a heartbeat.

Oh well, we have rep's from chossville attending, gathering all the good slander as they swill.

Don't forget to report back.
