Wow,
Lot's of emotion over what seems to be a minor incident. The Gym (Pacific Edge) receives the closure list every year from the NPS. It is and has been posted on our bulletin board as it has been for 10 + years. I appreciate being a "good steward", and have done similar things myself over the years. As public figures and educators in the climbing community, I feel that it is our job to keep informed on topics such as raptor closures, and in turn, to inform the climbing public. Caring for our environment, climbing areas included, is a top priority. Setting a good example while we are out climbing is part of our job as climbing professionals. FYI- Tom Davis and Scott Lappin are the resident experts on climbing at the Pinnacles.
I spoke with Rosie. She is relatively new to climbing at the Pinns, her comments about where they were going to climb were off-hand, and made without consulting her friends, or the guidebook. To imply that she may not care about climbing on closed routes is simply not true. I personally feel that the internet is a bad place to take up a complaint with an individual. In person or on the phone should always be the first place to discuss any issue. I was not there, I did not witness any of the events, so I will not carry on any further.
